EPL Game Week 35

Is Suarez a wayward talent? He used his hand and gave away an unnecessary penalty then bit Ivanovic and scored the all important equaliser with seconds to go. He was the top scorer in the EPL with 23 goals to his credit which is almost 40% of Liverpool's goals and mostly playing alone up front and one of those selected to be Footballer of the Year.  RVP's hattrick has just pipped him by a goal now. Maybe Brendan Rodgers should sign this young fellow as Suarez has been slapped with a long ban. Will he be around next season?

Still you can't beat this goal by RVP:

And if you think that RVP'S goal was great, wait till you see this one: http://sg.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/fit-to-post-sports/ultimate-goal-kick-off-better-van-persie-volley-234119191.html

There was a player who kicked to death an owl in Colombia and not only was it cruel but the owl is a mascot of the opponents. If you look at Suarez, he actually has big teeth. He may be falling and his hands were not quick enough to break fall so as a last resort, he has to rely on his teeth to cling on to something and Ivanovic's hand got in the way.

What about a 1-match ban for biting hands, 3 -match ban for biting legs and so on?

Man City v West Ham - City was unceremoniously dumped at White Hart Lane where the title challenge ended. In a match where they had a dream start with an early goal by Nasri, dominated especially with Vincent Kompany cleaning up everything at the back with such dominance and then to astonishingly crumbled towards the end where Tottenham hit back with 3 great goals from Dempsey, Defoe and Bale. The Hammers are now unbeaten for 4 matches including having held both Liverpool and Man Utd. In their last 5 meetings, there were 2 draws. West Ham have not won. City have pride to fight for but are off-form while West Ham is in-form. A close win for City. 2-1.

Everton v Fulham - Everton could not overcome Sessegnon's goal at Sunderland. They were on a 4-wins/2-draws streak but with a lesser strength in depth, a long hard season can wear you out. Mathematically, they could still qualify for Europe if they could make 4th place. Fulham haven't won in 4 matches, scored only once and playing away. Historical trend and current from favour the home side strongly. Fulham have lost 4 out of 5 meetings to Everton and drew once. 2-0.

Southampton v WBA - It was suprisingly pedestal and boring at Swansea in their goalless draw but Southampton have been unbeaten for 6 matches now while playing attacking soccer. They thoroughly deserved their current 12th position and may even get better. WBA are no laggards quietly perched at 8th. Kudos to Steve Clark and his boys. It should be close and draw is possible but I shall pick a Saints victory, just. 2-1.

Stoke v Norwich - Stoke must have surprised even themselves when they won 2-0 at Loftus Road. They were solid in their first part of the season and then it crumbled. Beofre this win, they drew once and lost 7 matches! Both teams do not score a lot so 1-0 wins are highly possible or even 0-0 draw. I pick a draw. 1-1.

Wigan v Tottenham - If Tottenham played like they did against City all year round they could have been Champions. Gareth Bale could be Footballer of the Year! There are only two persons who are faster than Bale on the pitch. Watch:

How can such acts be accepted? Anywya, this is a match that both want to win. Tottenham are 5th, a point behind Chelsea and 2 behind Arsenal but with a game in hand over the Gunners. They are the most exciting team in the EPL and deserved a shot in Europe. Wigan are 18th. 7 points clear with a game in hand over the bottom 2 teams, 3 points behind Villa, 6 behind Sunderland, Stoke, Newvastle with a game in hand. This is the game in hand they must win. They were great escape artists last season but even if they won the F. A. Cup it could not be compensated for staying up. Their records against Spurs are not that bad but it is bad time to face Tottenham. 1-2.

Newcastle v Liverpool - The Magpies season is all but over. With 37 points in 16th place, the Magpie's perch is precarious just as their form has been patchy. Liverpool, in 7th place with 51 points (5 behind Everton), they will in all likelihood miss out on Europe again. They have been great one moment and ordinary the next. Currently, Liverpool is the better team but in their last 5 meetings, each has won 2 matches and drew once with scoreline ranging from 2-4 goals. I am thinking of a draw here. 1-1.

Reading v QPR - Pride is the only thing left here. After a few good results, QPR slumped badly. So too Reading. In their last 5 matches against all opponents, each managed just a point. Both need miracles to survive as Wigan are 7 points more. After this encounter, QPR host Arsenal, Newcastle and travel to Liverpool while Reading travel to Fulham, host Man City and go to West Ham. Better luck next time. 2-2.

Chelsea v Swansea - Having been given a gifted penalty, how could Chelsea squander that lead? But the Liverpool goals were good. They have European distraction and less rest. Swansea has an equal record playing Chelsea with 3 draws and a win each. There may not be many goals here. 2-1.

Arsenal v Man Utd - The good thing for the Gunners is that Utd are already Champions. So they are playing for their disgust for each other. RVP may received a hostile reception. It was his hattrick that sealed the title for Utd. Arsenal have not lost since beating Bayern Munich away and Bayern have beaten Barcelona 4-0. Man Utd have already got the title sewn up. Unfortunately, the Gunners last 5 meeting record against Utd have been poor winning only once and having lost the rest. It will be a draw. 1-1.

Villa v Sunderland - Villa on 34 points and 17th place is the best of the roust. Sunderland have been impressive having won 3-0 at Newcastle and then 1-0 against Everton. I think both teams will survive the dreaded drop. 2-2.
