April's Dry Humour - Part 2

Image
The weather too hot and humid that it can make us talk incoherently. It saps you of all your energy. In other countries, it is freezing. They say that during the period of "Ching Ming" (or Qingming), also known as Tomb Sweeping Day or Ancestors Day, a day where you visit your ancestors' graves to pay respects, it is the hottest period. People are still burning "hell note papers", paper houses, cars, etc. indiscriminately. If you have walked pass or gone into a shop selling these paper stuffs, you can even find paper computers, iPhone and iPad. The producers and shop owners are confident these products work because you wanted your ancestors to have a good life or so you thought. Maybe he will ask you to sign up for Internet connection,   buy a charger, etc. Maybe they will make you feel bad for not doing it but presuming it can be done, do they know how to use it? Is Steve Jobs there to help? You either go up or go down right? If you go sideways you beco...

April's Dry Humour - Part 1

Recently, the weather is so hot and humid that you can come out after a cold shower perspiring. You don't even need cotton buds to dry your ears as water in and around the ears would evaporate coming out from your ears as steam. Everybody loves a winner and now that Tiger Woods is prowling again I mean on the golf course, all is forgotten. Lance Armstrong was once such a hero when he won 7 Tour de France titles. Now everyone has slammed him for drugs. I mean if you and I were on drugs, okay no just beers,   I think we can't even find our bicycles. While the world grapples with economic and financial crises, Singapore are selling houses and cars like hot cakes as if they are free. The only other problem has been with sex. Reading the papers each day made me coin a phrase that Confucius might be proud of: "Man with tool in woman's mouth not necessary dentist". It is no wonder that people are not getting married. The guys are going "why buy a cow when y...

Humour

We have been talking about values and one of them is humour. Some folks may say that they were born shy but there is no such thing. You were born naked not shy. What about humour? Anyone born with a sense of humour? Most folks do have some sense of  humour but they differ in many ways but as people grew older they will lose more and more of it as the serious business of life overwhelmed them. Some may even be disillusioned. Having a sense of humour is an absolutely important trait to have in the human species and must be made an integral part of our life failing which misery could be the dominant factor. When you were born, your life was absolutely threatened. At the wrong time and place, you could have been aborted! In the womb, other threats were prevalent. When delivered, all kinds of viruses and bacteria threatened you. You made it but throughout life, all kinds of threats wanted a piece of your scalp. These are no laughing matter, not a joke and not funny and yet precisel...

Maldives became the 93rd country to have visited my blog. Cheers! Talking about cheers, people tend to equate that with clinking of glasses and then having a tipper. It is a way to relax like just having a beer. Beer is a social lubricant and lately there have been reports that having a beer or two each day can be good for health. Definitely not binge drinking. Maybe it's a guy thing when they say "Let's have one more then we'll go." Doctors need to be careful telling their patients that one or two glasses is okay especially to older folks. Three old guys were walking. One guy said: "Windy, isn't it?" The second one said: "No, It's Thursday!" The third one said: "So am I, let's go get a beer." There was this 80 year old man who has just seen a doctor for a health check. A few days later, the doctor saw him with a gorgeous young woman on his arm. The doctor spoke to him: "You are doing really great. What'...

Gone Fishing!

Quite often we dabble with something and then it loses its lustre or we lose interest or some friends changed their perspective in life and you find yourself stopping doing those things you like doing together. Like playing some sports. Sometimes, they go full circle. Do you find yourself going back in time doing things you used to do or go into the opposite direction. They are both equally possible. Although I have and still need a day job to put bread on the table and also contribute to the economy, I find myself getting into more and more hobbies. With a job, family to take care of and a wide variety of interests, it is only going to be action packed with not a moment to idle. One can introduce anything to your children but if they are not interested there is not a thing to do about it. Same like your friends. Recently, I get people telling me that I must have been playing a lot of golf because they commented that I look darker but it is far from the truth as besides golf, I s...
