EPL Game Week 20

The EPL is going real tight this season. Leadership position changed from Liverpool to Manchester City and then to Arsenal. We are exactly at the half way point. Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea or Liverpool are looking good but Liverpool are thin on their squad. Do not rule out Manchester United but it may not be likely. Everton may surprise but it is a long shot.  Arsenal are still looking good but have not been as prolific recently. Losing big to Man City raised some question marks but they are coming back and more injured players are coming back. They need a prolific scorer. Ozil has lost some steam and both he and Ramsey are injured. Manchester City seem the best team at the moment in terms of form and they have a really deep squad. To win the title and compete in Europe you need quality in every position so that suspension and injuries will not hinder as the quality gap between players are not that wide. Chelsea needs strikers that keep banging in the goals. Only Eden Hazar

Singapore Mirror - December 2013

It is curtains soon. How quickly the year is coming to an end. What have we achieved? What are the things we wanted to do but never got to doing them. Whatever they are, we always or at least I hope it is always for you that we will all look back fondly. If it is not fond then do not look back. Learn from it but not pretend they did not take place. We must never miss the lessons learnt. Singapore is a small place opened to the world for business, for gambling at casinos, for shopping with their tourist dollars, for work, for education, for living, for anything and everything. Crocs -  Even crocodiles came over. The recent one at Sungei Buloh. Experts said it is alright and you must have read their piece and it was teachers and some very young children who came across it. I do not doubt the experts but sometimes there are changes or things we do not understand so it is better that we have some experts or rangers monitor the situation and find good ways to increase safety. I mean

EPL Game Week 19

Last weekend was a defining week. Liverpool went to the top of the league on goal difference with Suarez unstoppable. Can they sustain it? What if Suarez got injured or suspended?  Mighty Arsenal have not won in 3 matches. Why was Ozil quiet and Ramsey stopped scoring? Do they need another top striker in January?  Can they regain their great start to this campaign? Manchester United seemed to have recovered from their poor start. Can they claw their way back? Manchester City have out-gunned every team and showed better away form now. Can they stamp their authority from now on? Chelsea are still there or thereabouts but not as clinical as before. Can they switch gear now? They said that the team at the top during Christmas went on to win the title in the last four years. Will it happen again? Remembering Christmas

Image
How many Christmases have you celebrated? Do you remember the first few in your living memory? My childhood memories were those when my parents brought me down town. Where was down town?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUSYb3igXzI . In the old days, there was only one Metro at High Street and one Robinsons at Raffles Place and they were the best there were for shopping centres. Dad and mum would bring us walking through "Change Alley" before we got to Robinsons and they always have someone dressed up as Santa and he would walked around. You could pay a dollar and dip your hand into a basket and pick up a "Lucky Dip" not knowing what  you are going to get. In primary school, we learnt how to make Christmas cards. We would draw a Christmas tree with presents around it (commercial) or a snowman (cultural), etc., sprinkle some shiny stuffs over glue and bingo! B ut there were other types which were harder to make. Those where you have pictures of the infant Jes

You haven't met your relatives of friends in Singapore for quite sometime but during this school holiday season, you will bumped into some of them in Bangkok. Recently loads of Singaporeans once again descended there for their annual pilgrimage to shop and eat regardless of the political protest and demonstration.  They say it is peaceful and safe.  Some say just stay in the shopping centres or hotel and you will be okay. Others said it was interesting to witness the situation. There are people who continued with the journey because they have paid for it and the travel agents gave no refund. Some went ahead even as the airlines were willing to refund. Of course those who went and came back said it was okay but with tens of thousands of people or was it up to 100,000 demonstrating and protesting, a mob can turn unruly and things can suddenly escalate into chaos. You do not need to have a direct impact. Just getting caught in a binder, stuck at a place can be a problem. Back hom

House Of Briyani

You must have read about this. Syed Mutalib, a former Singapore soccer legend who opened his nasi briyani restaurant at Owen Road near where the legendary coach Uncle Choo Seng Quee once owned a sports shop. Adorn on the walls at strategic location are photos of Singapore soccer legends in the glory days of the Malaysia Cup which gave Singapore the original Kallang Roar. This was the legendary team members who brought back the Malaysia Cup after 12 long years. In this team in 1977 were: (Standing L-R) Hasli Ibrahim, S. Rajagopal, Eric Paine, Quah Kim Song, Mohamed Noh, Syed Mutalib, Samad Allapitchay, Edmund Wee, Robert Sim, Nasir Jalil. (Squatting L-R) M. Kumar, Gulam Mohamed, Zainal Abideen, Dollah Kassim, Lim Teng Sai, Lim Tang Boon. We have Andy Yeo, Robert Sim, Ho Kwang Hock, Lim Teng Sai and Quah Kim Song seated and we were already merrily chatting away. Syed Mutalib, the boss was asking what we wanted and. There were differe
