I have always asked questions and observed things, whatever they may be. This is not being "kay poh" (busybody) but a natural curiosity and very often we can find answers and solutions by asking the right questions. So, asking questions and in particular the right questions is of critical importance in any situation or purpose in life. Maybe I should have studied metal physics. When I took up golf, the first question I asked after knowing about the metal woods and irons was why did they make equipment that are so difficult to play? When they market and advertise they always say that it is forgiving, easy, etc. In golf, the longer the stick, the harder to us it or to master. So you think the shorter sticks are easy? Wrong! Roger Cleveland founded Cleveland Golf based in Huntington Beach, California back in 1979. Originally, they were producing replicas classic golf clubs from the 40s and 50s and were very good with their wedges and now produces a full range of golf clubs.  Roger Cleveland sold his company in 1990 to ski manufacturer Rossignol who were later acquired by Quicksilver in 2005. In 2007, Quicksilver sold Cleveland Golf and its subsidiary Never Compromise (putter) to Japan-based SRI Sports who owns Dunlop. It was later consolidated with Srixon.  Most beginners or quite many golfers still play with a wedge that comes in a whole and complete set and it looks exactly like the other irons in the set. There is nothing wrong using these wedges except that if you really hope to improve on your short game in the long run, you will need to replace them with sharper surgical tools. These are the scoring clubs. It is like a free-kick in soccer just outside the penalty box. You have to put it on for a solid chance to convert. When golfers do not put it on the green with a wedge by over hitting, it is like blasting a free-kick into row Z in the stadium seat or when hitting under then it is like ramming a free-kick into the human wall. Just that in golf and the repercussion is often more serious as you have to play from where your ball lies. In soccer, you just get a throw in for either side. I think it is time for golf to change the rules to allow throw ins when the ball is outside by too much. There are two types of golfers. Those that are always changing or updating their equipment and those whose equipment looks like dinosaurs while others are classic. In each of these types, there are two other types - those who keep changing because there is too much cash and they know not what else is there to do and those who are intrigued by engineering and wanted to take advantage of it to improve their golf life.
