Sport Fishing

Image
Sport Fishing is also known as recreational fishing. It is merely fishing for pleasure, treating it as a sport and not necessarily to fish so that you could eat the fish although it can be an option. Real sport fishing enthusiasts are respectable folks who practise etiquette when fishing and have a tradition of catch and release as they fish for sport.  Hobbyists often discussed about equipment like fishing rods, reels, lines, hooks, sinkers, floats, baits and tackle boxes for storing weights, floats, lures, swivels, lines, hooks, pliers, etc. The other word to describe the practice of catching fish with a hook is called angling. So sports fisherman are anglers. In other countries, fly fishing, bow-fishing or spear-fishing are popular.  But fishing needs etiquette just like golf and others. All sport fishing people would agree. If you want to eat fish, go buy from the market. You can bring home the fish you caught from the sea to eat but ot...

Fish Book

Image
We have face book. If we were all fish, then what? Fish book anyone? I last wrote about fish behaviour. http://gforce-guru.blogspot.com/2012/03/fishy-behaviour.html It is actually mind boggling and frightening if you look at the species of fish everywhere and it keeps you wondering if they were creation or evolution. I keep telling myself that it is creation as only in creation that life and things can be beautiful and super functional. Just look at this puffer fish.  A Giant Snakehead (Toman) and Mayan Cichlid living together. It is obvious which is the more aggressive fish but they have no problem and only on some days, the smaller cichlid would irritate the bigger one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q--2qzk8UQ So this is what it got. A few light bites to put him in place but the cichlid has attacked other fish even bigger than it is. It is in its nature. What is your nature? The Toman is a voracious eater. My son reared them from s...

Pets

Image
In the good old days, people reared chickens and ducks to trade or for food. People were poor and they can't even feed themselves sufficiently let alone keep pets. Dogs were kept to keep strangers and pests like snakes away but as society gets more affluent, keeping pets became fashionable. Very often, pets got abandoned needlessly as owners got tired of them. Makes me wonder how many are really animal lovers. I know those who loves animals because they taste good. I have my experience with dogs but when they got given away or died, you will feel sad and forlorn. Yet there are others out there who swear by their feline partners - cats. They think cats got more character and are more intelligent. They feel that dogs are well, just loyal while cats need you to earn their respect. Then there are those who love birds, like golfers.  Rearing fish is another great fascination. Their species are just mind boggling. I mean you don't keep many species of cats and dogs but you c...
