What Kind of Golfer Are You?

Damned if you do and damned if you don't. That's a terrible situation to be in. Tiger Woods' official apology was a no win situation but he had to do it nevertheless. Because it was open, it was vulnerable. I am sure there would be some quarters that may have found it a well-rehearsed performance created by his spin-doctors and was basically pure theatrics and just crap because he took no questions. I don't know if given a choice I wanted to be in Tiger's shoes or Mr. Akio Toyoda the chief of Toyota. Which one will come out of trouble first? Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel sang: "I rather be a sparrow than a snail. Yes, I would." Sometimes, when troubles come, they come in an avalanche. Like John Terry and Ashley Cole having their own mini World Cup. The springboks and gazelles in South Africa had better be able to run fast when the soccer players land there. Somehow, to some folks Tiger may have looked like he was in some internet video of someone ki...

Winning Clubs of Winningest Pros

I think we are naturally going to be curious about what stars and our favourite sports stars use in their pursuit of exellence. That is why these stars are earning mega bucks from sponsors not just from equipments but also from what they wear from top to toe. Who knows one day you might get lucky when a major sports brand pays you not to use their goods and then pay you again to use it from another competitor - sort of like a smear them not me campaign. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. Bertrand Russell British author, mathematician, & philosopher (1872 - 1970) Let me fill you in on all the winning clubs from th...

Forever Yang

PGA Championship What is the first thing you have to do to beat Tiger Woods? You have to t urn up and before you get all mental or psychological, you have have to be prepared in the physical realm, you have to get to the course early, release all of yesterday's toxic waste at the loo which you may otherwise be carrying with you which is of no benefit. Turning up early allows you a little luxury to ease your tension of the day before a game. Hope you get the point. You saw it for yourself on TV one of golf's great historical moments when Y.E. Yang, the first Asian born who tamed Tiger to win the PGA Championship. You read the papers talking about how his parents, farmers in Jeju Island objected to his desire to play golf how he got his meagre pay picking golf balls and when he found an iron he would trained himself before the range opened and after the range closed. Y.E. Yang Where from a distant galaxy of a humble 110th ...

Swing Speed, Ball Speed and Distance

Relation of Swing Speed, Ball-Speed and Distance Sometimes among golfers, you hear talks about Tiger Woods' swing speed going up to 180mph. This is incorrect. Once, a person told me that his swing speed is more than 150 mph, I choked and gasped for air for a moment. He was a hard and long hitter no doubt but there is no way he could top 150 mph. If he could do that, then Tiger Woods and John Daly are all wimps. What they meant is possibly his ball speed and not swing speed. Tiger's swing speed is at 125mph. Of course at times, it may increase to 130mph or drop to 115mph depending on him while John Daly could top 135-140 mph anytime. G olf legend Sam Snead, who also hit thunderous drives in his prime said: "I never saw a man who could take a club that far back and drive that well for that long. But if that swing ever comes unglued, they will never find the ball." To give you a measured perspective of swing speed in relation to carry distance, please see below: ...
