Some of us don't believe in God and there are those of us who do. Yet there are others who believe there is the devil but even the devil believes n God. For one is light and the other is darkness.  Even those who believe there is God do not seem to live as if there is God. They fail to see the wonders of everyday miracles. They never thanked God. Yet, when something is wrong they are the first to blame God. I would grieve on that, let alone God. Have you dealt with people like that before? You do all the wonderful things for them which they never knew nor appreciated then after they get all the goodies they turn around and bite you. There are also those who seems Godly by convenience. They can appear very good on the surface or strut their good side and best behaviour when others are watching but do the opposite as long as it benefits them and whenever it is convenient. I have been driving around so frequently and yet in the past so many years, have completely avoided being caught in any accident and this included a couple of near misses of others hitting me. I am a model driver. The highway is a dangerous place and I can't figure out why people when getting into the KPE tunnel has to suddenly switch lane at the point where the roads are on a down slope. Even golfers know that playing down slope can be tricky. In those few occasions of misses, I heard screeching of tyres followed by a few bangs and when I looked from my rear view mirror, I saw the skirmishes behind with me remaining unaffected. People were switching lanes needlessly. They go to the far right lane meant for overtaking only and the moment they got there they slowed down. Many times I left home early and yet got caught in a jam because of such accidents at the tunnel expressway. This led me to assess that the skills and attitude of our modern day drivers are really quite poor.  ...

Last week I talked about TGIF! This time I am talking about TGFS - Thank God For Sunday! To people who do not work on Saturdays, the end of Friday gives us a sense of relaxation that the weekend is coming. Some of us treat Sunday as the last day of the weekend but is Sunday the beginning of a new week or for that matter Easter Sunday is the beginning of a new life. Some of us are already moody or edgy come Sunday knowing that a long work week is awaiting you. Why are many people dragging their feet to school or to work yet when the work day is over or when they are leaving for a vacation, they are all motivated and come alive again? When you set your alarm clock at 6am to wake up and go to work, you may not even hear it and yet when you are going for golf you set your alarm at 6am and you automatically wake up at 5am. TGIF!!! Many of you are familiar with this expression. Sometimes I would drop an email to people with this heading. TGIF is an initial for "Thank God It's Friday!" You want to celebrate on the last day of the school or work week. It actually originated in the 1960s first popularised by a restaurant T.G.I. Friday's and then there was a movie by the same name. See if you could spot this place in the pix with a hung up sign: "Thank God It's FRIDAY'S". Do you remember stories or movies like Robsinson Crusoe, Gulliver's Travels, The Last of The Mohicans, Castaway, etc. Everybody has a sidekick or companion - Adam & Eve, Batman and Robin (if they got run over by a lorry would become Flatman and Ribbon), Green Hornet and Kato. We have seen the Tsunami that ravaged the world one fateful Boxing Day and the destruction that followed. Earthquakes of even greater intensity than ever before everywhere and getting even closer to home, in and around Indonesia and never before have there been such frequency and the tremors felt more violently. Singapore has been blessed with protection probably by her geographical landscape and position and we have less hardship than many others.  However, this does not mean that we can be perpetually safe and lay enshrouded. Do you know that God created the earth in six days and on the seventh day He rested? No, not that He needed to rest but being God He spoke words into being and when He rested it meant He stopped work representing a cycle from creation to completion. That is why we go on in seven day week cycles and you get your Sundays off dude! Aren't you grateful? Therefore, for those of you who have no alternative but to work seven days a week for whatever reasons, you need to try to take a day off especially on Sunday.
