Thank God For Sunday

Last week I talked about TGIF! This time I am talking about TGFS - Thank God For Sunday! To people who do not work on Saturdays, the end of Friday gives us a sense of relaxation that the weekend is coming. Some of us treat Sunday as the last day of the weekend but is Sunday the beginning of a new week or for that matter Easter Sunday is the beginning of a new life.

Some of us are already moody or edgy come Sunday knowing that a long work week is awaiting you. Why are many people dragging their feet to school or to work yet when the work day is over or when they are leaving for a vacation, they are all motivated and come alive again? When you set your alarm clock at 6am to wake up and go to work, you may not even hear it and yet when you are going for golf you set your alarm at 6am and you automatically wake up at 5am. There is of course an exception for workaholics and those who works from home where they could afford to work from your bed or sleep at your desk.

The New Testament teaches that the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday is the foundation of the Christian faith. Christ the Son of God came as the sacrificial lamb and was resurrected from the dead. They never found His body and He appeared to many people. His tomb was guarded with a huge stone placed there and yet He rose from the dead to overcome death leaving the tomb empty. In the Old Testament of Genesis, it was stated that God created the earth in six days and on the seven day He rested and made it holy. So we should work no more than six days and have a "must rest" Sunday. Some folks till this day are still arguing over whether the six days to God is equivalent to our six days of a human's estimation of time and space.

There was a guy who spoke to God and said: "God, what is a million years to you?" and God said: "It is just like a minute." Then the guy said: "What is a million dollars to you?" and God replied: "It is like a penny". So the smart Alec said: "God, can you give me a penny?" and God said: "Just a minute".
Here is Daniel Boone with Beautiful Sunday. This is just one of the old songs that we love.

Sometimes, we do feel lazy but we can be really hardworking and productive. Somehow I am sure we all love Fridays, Saturdays and even Sundays. Thank God He set an example wh
en he rested. Cheers!
