A blogger who claimed he blogged on food went to a upmarket restaurant with some friends ordered some food and drank champagne. The bill came up to a few hundred $ and he refused to pay saying that he is a blogger. On goodwill, the restaurant reduced the bill to like a quarter of the original and he threw his credit card at the cashier. Maybe it was a misunderstanding but can such a blog be independent? Do you have a voice against bad service, poor products or do you still have moral authority to rate and review? Bloggers must know if they are in it for free food and goodies or to be a real reviewer. I have always paid for every bill when I eat or spent on golf equipment and I will write what I think is proper and correct. I'm a sucker for inspirational stories of how people achieved great success from a humble beginning. It never failed to bring a tear to my eyes. It is all abut passion and in some cases obsession. Karsten Solheim (Ping) Have you heard the one of how Ping came about? About how a Norwegian immigrant Karsten Solheim who works in GE having unhappy situations with his putting then went on to toy with and finally developed a prototype putter with weights towards the back, the first of its kind in the world. He then established Karsten manufacturing in 1967 and promptly named his product Ping which was how it sounded when it made contact with the golf ball. He wanted to name it Answer, which was the answer to putting problems but the six letters could not fit in to the heel end of the perimeter weighting and his wife suggested to drop the "w" to get the same sounding name which gave birth to the Ping Anser putter. About 50 years ago, in Redwood, California, a man named Karsten Solheim, a General Electric engineer had a problem with his putting and could not find a putter to his liking. So he designed and built a putter for himself. It was an unique putter which he called the A1 and which makes a distinctive "ping" sound at impact thus the Ping Golf brand was born. He started selling his putters from the backyard of their home. Some years later, Solheim went on to unveiled an inspirational putter which was so iconic that even today all the major golf brands has one design modelled after it. The Ping Anser was created and enjoyed by millions of golfers around the world today.
