We should never impose on our children in what they should do or what sports they should play. My parents never did that to me. If I had chosen badminton and fishing among my many sports and hobbies it was purely coincidental but my dad brought me fishing to begin with and I loved it but I did introduce my children to all kinds of sports, music, etc., because these are important for character development.  It is quite common and normal for them not to be interested in what you introduce them like fishing (boring and time-wasting of course until they haul in a big fish) and cycling could be another non-interest. Then at the right time or perhaps they have some friends who became interested or when their interests changed, they can suddenly become crazy over these things. I have friends who are like pro-bikers or triathlon pros and they are amazing people. I am always amaze by how they have this extreme endurance.  So my son wanted me to ride with him and...

Prawning

 Is fishing meant only for fish? Are you fishing for prawns or prawning? Fishing for crabs or crabbing? Fishing for sotong (squid) or sotonging? We have done that before at Bishan and they do have prawn fishing at  various location. But then conveniently located at Punggol, there have been a slew of activities coming up since last year or so at the stretch along Punggol East. I took a day off to be lazy, hang loose and destress, so we went prawning. In Singapore you have to pay to catch things. They always seduce you by putting a display to tempt you, whatever the business like a few huge prawns in a tank. These are river prawns with big blue claw-liked pincers. The picturesque Punggol Promenade is in the background. Taking a stroll or jogging and cycling along the river in the mornings and evenings is a very good idea. The picture you see is the entrance to the beer garden which is also operated by the prawn fishing owners and they start from 3pm till late. ...
