Charlie's tapas-grill bar is nestled right at Boat Quay. They serve mouth-watering steaks and char-grilled pork ribs among many other set lunch items on the menu. They do have a cosy ambient where I mostly do lunches when there. A good selection of beers await you. Set lunches are simple. There is a new restaurant at Kovan simply called "Knuckles" next to the Nakhon Kitchen. We were early and came exactly at opening time but found it still closed. So we saw a couple of people outside whom we thought could be their staff and enquired. It was our good fortune that they immediately retrieved the shutters. I saw that this place is probably owned by the same man who owns Nakhon Kitchen.  If you ever come around here, make sure you order this mushroom salad. I thought I tasted hints of olive and cider vinegar. It was awesome. Truffle Fries is another absolute must have. So delicious but as in all fries also a deadly diet. Have it once in awhile and not feel bad. Actually truffle fries have been quite the rage in recent times.  German sausages are always good.  Of course, these are what the restaurant is all about - knuckles, pork knuckles. The first time I went to Defu Lane I was pleasantly surprised with the quality seafood at Seafood Paradise. Then it got more and more crowded so I turned up less.  It has been years since and they have expanded so rapidly into not just a chain of restaurants but restaurants of different categories from casual to fine dining. So life is about people, places, events and food? Probably so but not necessary in that order. This time my opportunity was to dine at Canton Paradise at ARC. ARC is the Alexandra Retail Centre, a place that is so familiar to me as I used to work at the PSA Building for some years. Serious looking utensils stared at me which made me nervous as each time I have good food will I over indulge? After being part of a visit to the Old Age home previously, it was time to carry out the other part, the laborious part. With a sum collected,  we need to know what was needed, got them listed down  and go about getting them from the supermarket and then delivering them. The guys in charge did a great job of listing and estimating the prices, etc. It was quite a bit of work. The supermarket staffs at Fairprice Toa Payoh was really kind to assist us. Two of them helped us to get each and every item onto a trolley. Only thing was they may be wondering why five men are buying so many of these food items? Are they hawkers or do they buy them and stock them for a few months? May be they live together and after stocking they never come out of the house? God knows what they are up to. We got them stuffed in cartons and it was ready for delivery. We have a few cars for transportation. A staff at Lee A Mooi Old Age Home came with a trolley to transfer the goods. ...
