Blog 111 countries have visited this blog to date. The latest were Venezuela, Dominica, Lebanon, New Caledonia, Guatemala, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Peru, Jordan, Guam, Reunion and Gabon.  There are about 458,000 hits as of now. The reason why I am sharing this is simply because it has been an amazing experience for me! Sometimes when I am walking on the street now, someone may call up from behind "Hey Guru!" or shout from across the street "TGIF!!" Thankfully, none have shouted "Owe $ Pay $", the modus operandi of loan sharks.  I have made lesser known hawkers happy especially when they saw themselves on the blog. Restaurants and other retail businesses too. Sometimes, I may not even inform them.  I want to catch people doing the right things. I give you an itsy bitsy of a vacation or when I travel, I show you what are the suitable golf clubs for you and explain why, I encourage you to embrace nature, develop hobbies, spend more time with family and fr...

Collecting Flags

Image
Some of us collect stamps from various countries. It can be quite an interesting hobby. Others may collect badges, pins and flags. We used to challenge each other by naming the capital of each country or by naming all the pop artistes or rock bands beginning with a certain letter. Now I want to learn how to collect flags of countries that have logged on to my blog. I was amazed when I saw that many countries have logged on either through search engines or someone was looking for something with some key words or simply someone read an article and forwarded to a friend. I would like to find out how I can show the flags of each country that has visited may be even count the numbers. At the time of writing, the following 41 countries have paid me a visit and for some countries many times: Australia, Brazil, Burundi, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Latv...

Thank You!

Image
A big thank you to all friends and readers! Couple of the notebooks were down and having problems with writing and communication but I mustn't stop. The Initiation My children started blogging. Initially, they continued to egg me on to do the same but it took me awhile as I was somewhat flippant about it. I was thinking to myself that young people today are brilliant and fortunate to have avenues like these. When I got started it was pretty slow as I wrote few articles in between and even the readership based on counter for clicks showed little improvements. I sent them to a few friends to see how they responded. I have always wanted to keep in touch with friends but everyone is too busy and when they tell you that they will call back, they would forget to. They seldom do.  Not that I make a poor friend, I am the best of the best out there but I understood every body's tight schedule and commitments. I reckoned that putting some thoughts in...

His Guruship - GuruGeoff

Image
His guruship GuruGeoff is not an accredited guru but since when were gurus appointed? Gurus do not get appointed, they only get disappointed. Anyway, nobody ever listens. Therefore, please do as he says and not do as he does. While others graduated from NUS, he graduated from SNUSS (Sang Nila Utama Sec. Sch - haha, just kidding for there is no such education centre). He actually graduated from the School of Hard Knocks (SOHK pronounced as Shiok) and the University of Life. Gurus are often self-styled, eccentric, maverick, etc. They either dispense great wisdom or spout nonsense. Sometimes both and when done beautifully - nonsensical wisdom flows. They need not be hermits though and are culpable of downing a couple of brew. GuruGeoff was a name given and conferred on him by some friends who thought that he seems to know everything, every #@% ! thing! Knowing in a way that made the subjects ...

Clarence's Blog

A word of love, encouragement, positive affirmation can go along way especially if you inspired someone, anyone. This is so since that inspired person will in turn go on to inspire many others just like a recipient of your love and help or simply an act of kindness. What goes around comes around as they say. My beloved son Clarence has started blogging, his so far of stories that seemed like Star Wars meet Lord Of The Rings but they are very well-written and to many younger readers simply awesome as they have mentioned! I have read his Sec. 1 school composition which are among the best in school/class but this is the first time I have read his story writing in this blog and I'm impressed that at his age, he is writing better than me at his age. Read it or start writing your own blog too, you and your children. It is part of sharing your friendship. To go to Clarene's blog, go to: http://www.letfoolsbefools.blogspot.com/ or you can access it from my blog...

Feedback

Thanks for reading my blog! The feedback and encouragement given is well appreciated! My family and friends have been badgering me for a long time to write and this technology has come some 30 years late. The potential guru has spoken. Many have given me the thumbs up and even the bottoms up! With their positive comments and good vibes, I may even go where angels fear to thread. But this is about wholesome fun and sharing experiences. Expletives, so far all positive and inspirational, have been received. Someone commented that it was troublesome just to leave a comment. Thank you and now I have created a dialogue box in MSN fashion aka Chat Box so that you can freely leave your comments by just keying in your message and leaving a name in double quick time. Different folks different strokes as many like the article about my automobiles over the years or the write out about the new one. Another buddy actually told me that he went out and bought all the car numbers he could...
