I have always been intrigued by martial arts since young. In those days, we only have two TV channels - channels 5 and 8. Channels 3 and 10 were Malaysian channels. Most of our TV programmes were imported TV drama series mostly from Hong Kong, sometimes there were others like Japanese but by and large they have the same old formulas. They were either very sad stories of guys struggling to make a living, women being married and getting trampled or despised by other families and the rest were all sword fighting and about revenge.  The sword fighting genre were always about revenge where the main character's master or family were murdered and he would train very hard in order to seek revenge later. Do you know how difficult it is to keep things simple? Humans beings are complicated that is why the world is in a perpetual mess for their minds are filled with details, unnecessary details. If their minds were to be their home, they will be classified as a hoarder.  Never let your life be frittered away by detail. Simplify. Others are afraid that you know their weaknesses or habits so they hide under a cloak, put on a guise or facade or say things they do not mean as they do not want you to read them. While people can be stupid, they are generally smarter than you thought. They read you. I suppose it is very tiring and stressful to put on a false front or double face everyday. So why don't we just keep things simple? Have you ever seen someone dressed so simply and yet they look simply so good? Being simple is an art, a high level art. It was Saturday, 21 July 1973. I picked up a copy of the now defunct "The New Nation", an afternoon tabloid and the headlines read: "Bruce Lee Dies". Bruce died on 20 July 1973 shortly after 7.30 pm on the way to the hospital. If he were alive today 40 years from there, he would have been 72.  So, some time ago, I dedicated a 7-part series on Bruce Lee recalling the day I first watch his movies and what I remembered about him. Bruce was so dedicated and passionate about his art that he has no peers but he has his fears such as cockroaches and of course he has no time to learn how to swim or ride a bicycle.  Bruce Lee has always been my hero. He was a legend in many ways and he has great charisma, was the most stylish fighter ever and yes even his screams were marvellous! Each scream conveyed a message or expression. For example, from his screams I learned that his favourite hotel was "Hyaaaaaaaaaatt!" and that his favourite drink was "wateeeeeeeeeer!" What I didn't know was that some how he has eaten "pao" from a shop known as "Johor Bahru Pau/Tim Sum". Was this pao available in Hong Kong or sent to the USA or was he stopping over in Johor Bahru?
