EPL 2020/21 - Game Week 33

Will the proposed Super League eventually happen after talking for years? Rich clubs that were approached will fear missing out as permanent members. What if it really takes off and become a huge success? They will be left behind, be it more money or prestige. Even if your team finish at the bottom, it does not matter as they will not be relegated or miss qualification for the next season and the next ever after. As soccer fans or supporters of your club, would you like it? With it, domestic leagues will suffer in quality as stars will only play in the Super League. As it is, already all the super clubs are  gobbling up all the best and most expensive players further devaluating the quality every where else. Will clubs build better stadiums in future? Was it not wonderful to watch Leicester win the title? Atlanta or RB Leipzig playing and beating bigger teams in the Champions League? Why aren't the current Champions League and the Europa sufficient? The clubs want more money? The o

EPL 2020/21 - Game Week 32

David Moyes, Thomas Tuchel and Sam Allardyce have been doing such a great job for their clubs but in the last two games, Allardyce and his boys were the best! The Baggies are anchored second from last. The 5-2 thrashing away to Chelsea and a home 3-0 trouncing of Southampton were nothing but brilliant. Will it be enough for Big Sam to keep them up? If only Sam has come earlier.  David Moyes has been brilliant throughout and bringing the Hammers up to 4th right now is no easy task. He is making West Ham rock. 7 games to go. How will it pan out this pandemic season? Everton v Spurs - Everton have to contend with injuries and their early season form seemed to have fizzled out. Dominic Calvert-Lewin's injury may have affected them but in their 0-0 draw to Brighton, they were being dominated by the Seagulls who had 55% of the ball and 23 shots to their 8. To make matters worse, they have not won in their last 5 games and lost 3 of them thus leaving them in 8th but with a game in hand.

8 matches to go, no time and points to lose. Whatever your ambitions or lack of. The main question is not if but when Manchester City will lift the league title trophy following their 2-0 win at Leicester. Neighbour United's 2-1 win over Brighton kept them in second while Leicester remain third. Chelsea were stunned 2-5 by bottom dweller WBA at Stamford Bridge and stayed in fourth on 51 points, five behind Leicester. Tottenham were dismal as they let slip and drew 2-2 at Newcastle. Liverpool made the most of the situation to win impressively at Arsenal 3-0. Manchester United won 2-1 versus Brighton with a late winner from Mason Greenwood. While Everton were held 1-1 by Crystal Palace, West Ham shone once again in their best season yet with a fine 3-2 win over Wolves and who else was so brilliant but Jesse Lingard who scored first and provided an assist and makes you wonder why Solskjaer let him go. 8 games to go. Do or die.  Fulham v Wolves - Fulham crumbled 1-3 at Villa Park thou

EPL 2020/21 - Game Week 30

It has been a good break. The international break for the World Cup qualifiers threw up a few surprises and a shift from the usual results which is a welcome surprise. Portugal could only beat Azerbaijan 1-0, Turkey stunned the Netherlands 4-2, Cyprus held Slovakia 0-0 and had beaten Slovenia 1-0, Slovenia had beaten Croatia 1-0, Spain were held 0-0 by Greece, Turks and Caicos lost 0-7 to Nicaragua (where the hell is Turks and Caicos?), St. Kitts and Nevis won 4-0 away to Bahamas and do you know where is St. Kitts and Nevis? There are no regular reports on Covid situation on Turks and Caicos and St. Kitts and Nevis so maybe we should run there. Regular bashing boys Luxembourg won 1-0 away to Ireland which is a shock to me how much they must have improved or how far Ireland has fallen maybe both. Turkey proved themselves by beating Norway 3-0 away and even the great goal scorer Erling Braut Haaland fired blanks in Norway's games. Spain needed a late late goal to win 2-1 at Georgia.
