EPL Game Week 3

Let's see if we can see a goal of beauty like these two in the EPL in the coming weeks - Ronaldinho goal for Cruzeiro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWZH5q4F5qQ See if you can match the commentator's "Gooooooooollllllll!" And then David Beckham's goal for L.A. Galaxy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oouDvYNRrw Then watch this Brazilian boy with no feet play soccer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xqLAnpiBFs Sorry, what did you say your problem was? Last week, I had four W/D/L predictions correct and was 100% only on Norwich v QPR.  West Ham v Fulham - The Hammers were hammered by the Swans 3 times without reply and Fulham did not deserved defeat at Old Trafford. Can big Sam Allardyce rally his troops in this London derby? Dembele is leaving for Spurs while Dempsey may still go to Liverpool but Berbatov may come to Craven Cottage. I think Fulham will a win this time. 1-2 . Swansea v Sunderland - There are two teams that hasn't scored a

Mystery Of Falling Marbles...Ghosts Again?

When I was in primary school, playing marbles was quite an in-thing. We do it in school all the time - before and sometimes after. At times, we became so sharp, we can hit another marble from quite a distance. Some friends would recommend the 20 cents type that are supposed to be superior than the 5 or 10 cents type and you have to go to certain shops to get it. Of course the expensive ones can crack up the cheap ones. Then one day, a joker came with a ball bearing.....   At home, children played with those colourful types that some folks used to decorate their flower vases or fish tanks and we all knew what it is like when some one drops marbles onto the floor as the marbles would scatter, bounce then roll all over the concrete floor and if you were living below an apartment, you will have irritating noises all over the ceiling. I am sure that many of you have experienced such a phenomenon at one time or another and perhaps all the time, even now. Maybe you didn't notice

Haunted Places

Image
Does haunting happens everywhere? Oppressive Spirit? Surely you knew someone, a friend or a relative, here or overseas who has an experience of being pinned down at the chest or choked at the neck or strangled and unable to breathe while they were sleeping. They would have tried to shout or scream but to no effect.  Some even saw an apparition above them. Scientific explanation seemed to have suggested that it is not real and could be some physical exhaustion but talk to those who has experienced it. This is obviously an oppressive spirit. There are also oppressive people out there. Which is more fearsome? Hotels Then there are those who mentioned that whenever they go into a hotel room, they will knock the door before entering. This is because they have seen some hotel staff doing such things when they were leading their guests to their rooms. This is probably to warn whatever spirits that could be residing inside to take cover as some one worse is coming. Have you stayed in

Photography - Lotus

Image
We took many shots of water lily and I wrote about it the last time:  http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2012/08/photography-water-lily-nymphaea-sp.html This time we hunted for Lotus. By the end of this article, you will know the difference between the two. We set out early at a time for the best natural lighting.  This was the first shot I took as I like it that it looks like Jurassic Park. I was using a  simple Canon IXUS and a Leica V-Lux 3 for all the shots.  These trees are really tall. Food for Diplodocus. This is how a lotus pond look like. A lily pond actually looks better. Ain't pretty at all. Untidy, messy and murky but wait till you see the flowers. Morning dew rolled into balls on these lotus leaves. Pure sky juice from heaven as shadows danced in the light. Shutter bugs galore, the young and the old. The Master (dad) and the pupil (daughter). Quite a few shutter bugs who were there knew my dad so they must be regulars. Bougainvill

And God said: "Let the water teem with living creatures and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky. So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good". Genesis 1: 20-21. I got a bit more serious with photography so you will see improvement in the quality for a picture paints a thousand words. Let David Gates and Bread (roti) entertain you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGfVOdTiUEc Now my daughter is blogging and into photography and I hope you will enjoy her works: http://photovineyard.blogspot.sg/ Now for my first picture on arrival on a sunny morning. Nature is really an oasis for the disturbed mind. Don't get me wrong, yours could be more disturbed than mine. It is just that lots of people do not know. Even normal people or perfectly looking ones can be very disturbed.

EPL Game Week 2

Oh what a weekend of soccer! Just in game week one and the EPL rocked! Surprises galore as there were shocks everywhere. This is just the beginning and long may it remain this way each week. In my last column, out of 10 matches, I have 4 correct W-D-L predictions and 2 perfect scores in Reading's 1-1 draw with Stoke and Chelsea's 2-0 win at Wigan. I was also right that Man City scored 3 goals but didn't expect Southampton to put in 2, also all the reported injured Newcastle players played. Swansea v West Ham - Michael Laudrup achieved the biggest scalp when the Swans thrashed QPR 5-0 away at Loftus Road despite mark Hughes having signed 8 new players and Robert Green repeated his World Cup fumble. Swansea were playing what Brendan Rodgers had envisioned for Liverpool. Michu signed for 2 million pounds repaid a huge part of his transfer. West Ham got off to a good start with that Kevin Nolan tap in winning 1-0 over Villa at Upton Park. With such an inspirational perfor

Hungry Ghosts Festival And Other Spooks

Image
Since I'm getting you on with ghostly encounters, I might as well not let up.  It is not hungry go where but hungry ghosts eat what. In the old days when dialects were commonly spoken, the description of people who eat a lot is simply "yau kwee" or hungry ghost in Hokkien. The Hungry Ghosts Festival or Zhong Yuan Jie has begun. The Gates of Hell has been opened.....watch out! Ancestor Worship  Frequently, foreign visitors or non-Singaporean friends would ask me why they see people burning during the 7th Lunar month because they have never seen these things but actually they do not even do these things in China even though the Chinese practised ancestor worship . So this is a Singaporean invention? I have seen us practising burning hell notes for the longest time and if Singapore is 47 years old, we could be doing this for more than 50 years? No wonder economists and experts are saying that it is an Asian era. As the Western world does not do this, all the money
