EPL Game Week 1

After a three month hiatus, do you think we are up to it? Even if you are, do you think the players are? Returning from a long holiday of over-indulgence in food and drinks, putting on weight and lacking fitness. Don't you wish our work life to be like the soccer season with a three mon th break and we work only from August to May? That would be wonderful! Every team would wish for a good start in a new season. For how not to start a season, just look at Arsenal last year. Will they make the same mistake again? Unlikely. They lost key players like Fabregas and Nasri without replacement and this time it would be van Persie but this time they have got a good looking replacement like Oliver Giroud. Arsenal v Sunderland - I said Giroud is good looking but whether he will look really good on the business end is to be seen. EPL - Prelude

John Terry and Jaoa Havelange are suffering from soccer's annus horribilis. They are not suffering from horrible anus problems like diarrhoea, constipation or piles. They just had a horrible year! What about you? May to August without EPL soccer. Fortunately you have had the Euro 2012 and then the Olympics but you don't really do soccer for the Olympics as it is no substitute for the World Cup. Fast forward and soon we are back to the weekly grind of EPL soccer now that we have gotten over with the curtain raiser of the Charity Shield. You may be thinking that there will be a slew of new and big signings by the EPL clubs but I don't have to tell you what's happening in Europe. European champions Chelsea has signed Eden Hazard for 32 million pounds and coming in as Ligue 1's player of the season and Germany's Marko Marin plus Brazilian Oscar who featured in the Olympics (23 million pounds).
