EPL Game Week 33

Image
What another week of great soccer! Manchester United finally produced a much needed improved showing in their 4-1 victory over Villa. Nobody expected Crystal Palace to beat Chelsea 1-0, a result that threw the title race wide open. Southampton's 4-0 demolition of Newcastle confirmed how far they have come with another round of good performances from England trio Adam Lallana, Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert.  Arsenal finally showed fire in their belly with a much more resilient and aggressive performance when they came back to level Manchester City 1-1, a result that could affect the title race.  Everton are peaking nicely with a fine 3-1 away defeat of Fulham and they have a realistic chance to make it to Europe and shall soon host both Arsenal and Manchester City and could be the king maker and also decide their own fate if they qualify for Europe and finally Liverpool got yet another solid 4-0 result over Tottenham.  Tottenham who got thrashed 5-0 at White Hart Lane knew

Singapore Mirror - March 2014

A mirror only shows your face not your heart or soul. Are Singaporeans Compassionate And Gracious? Was Charlotte Ashton fair to label Singapore as a miser city? Her experience was based on an occasion one morning. In her 10th week of pregnancy was it apparent to all that she is pregnant? Should she has asked for help instead? Are all Singaporeans so unkind or were those around Singaporeans? Was the situation painted with a broad brush? What happens if you thought a woman is pregnant but she is not. She just has a big tummy. Besides the bus card reader, perhaps bus companies should install an ultra sound scanner to scan people then you know for sure if someone is pregnant. What if the scanner picks up someone's head but he has no brain? I believe there will be many more people who are most willing to help. However, Singaporeans should take note and use the opportunity to reflect on what we could do better. Are we a nation that always need to be told what to do or trained to

Meet Paul @ Fish Man - Best Fish Meal In Town!

I think passion is very important. You need to be passionate about your belief, your work or hobbies. It maketh the man. I discovered something special at Tanjong Pagar Block 8. At a coffee shop call Hainan@7, there is a very special food. It is called "Fish Man'. If you are a lover of fish, do come and try it. As for me, this is a solid fish place. They serve deep sea fish. From Halibut which is their speciality to pomfret and even unagi. Pomfret always seems to sell out before dinner. Read all about the power of halibut. They have both deep-fried habibut as well as grilled halibut. I have been quite addicted to grilled halibut. A well grilled fish a very powerful. So do call me when you are in town. I can do you the honours. I can tell you it is not easy to to grilled halibut in such a way. This is Paul cooking and ensuring you will enjoy your lunch or dinner. This is the grilled halibut with some cajun powder sprinkled over it. I da bao 打 包 home a

EPL Game Week 32

Goals galore in the EPL. On Saturday night alone there were 32 goals in eight matches. There were several great goals and two were very special. One by Yaya Toure was a beauty and the one by Rooney takes the cake. Arsenal have just made it harder for themselves, Chelsea are in championship form, City are back with games in hand and Liverpool came back in a thriller. Do not forget the bottom dwellers fighting for their survival. Fulham and Cardiff got mauled, Palace and WBA are just a few points higher up but Sunderland have games in hand. We will be reaching the climax soon.  How will things stack up this week? Top goals of the week: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=692011437508117&set=vb.266828596693072&type=2&theater (highlight, right click and click go to:) Man Utd v Villa - I was not sure if the Red Devils are really back or was it the Hammers being rather poor. Under David Moyes they have broken many new records, negative ones. Was it Moyes fault or Fergu

Canton Paradise

The first time I went to Defu Lane I was pleasantly surprised with the quality seafood at Seafood Paradise. Then it got more and more crowded so I turned up less.  It has been years since and they have expanded so rapidly into not just a chain of restaurants but restaurants of different categories from casual to fine dining. So life is about people, places, events and food? Probably so but not necessary in that order. This time my opportunity was to dine at Canton Paradise at ARC. ARC is the Alexandra Retail Centre, a place that is so familiar to me as I used to work at the PSA Building for some years. Serious looking utensils stared at me which made me nervous as each time I have good food will I over indulge? There are always a range of Chinese tea to select from but my favourite is the "Kok Poh" which is fragrant. It is a mixture of chrysanthemum and poh lei.  The roast meat came. Roast pork, duck and char siew. You animal lovers out there will f

EPL Game Week 31

Even if you are a neutral, you'll be singing to You'll Never Walk Alone! The last time I saw a team played such breathtaking soccer was Kevin Keegan's Newcastle. This season is going to be a tight race to the end and Liverpool is certainly one of the contenders. Their fans are screaming bring on Chelsea, bring on Manchester City because they have yet to visit Anfield and these two matches will be huge and significant as the Reds can take points off them directly so their fate is in their own hands.  But beware those teams fighting for survival starting with Cardiff and Sunderland. They could yet be the king makers. Arsenal displayed their resilience. City showed their mettle but Chelsea playing well and so strong succumbed at Villa Park. Manchester United's fortress was of little protection as Liverpool outplayed the Red Devils. Liverpool have now thumped Tottenham 5-0 at White Hart Lane and at Anfield, thrashed Everton 4-0, Arsenal 5-1 and at Old Trafford trounced

Lee Fun Nam Kee Chicken Rice (After Charity)

After being part of a visit to the Old Age home previously, it was time to carry out the other part, the laborious part. With a sum collected,  we need to know what was needed, got them listed down  and go about getting them from the supermarket and then delivering them. The guys in charge did a great job of listing and estimating the prices, etc. It was quite a bit of work. The supermarket staffs at Fairprice Toa Payoh was really kind to assist us. Two of them helped us to get each and every item onto a trolley. Only thing was they may be wondering why five men are buying so many of these food items? Are they hawkers or do they buy them and stock them for a few months? May be they live together and after stocking they never come out of the house? God knows what they are up to. We got them stuffed in cartons and it was ready for delivery. We have a few cars for transportation. A staff at Lee A Mooi Old Age Home came with a trolley to transfer the goods. We m

EPL Game Week 30

The EPL is not the best league in the world if you go by the latest Champions league results. Both Arsenal and Manchester City were dumped by more illustrious opponents. Of course things could have been more different for both their respective home matches against Bayern Munich and Barcelona both of whom are great champions past and present. No point in arguing about dubious penalty awarded or others. Arsenal's purist game style lost to Bayern Munich's pressing game and City slickers could not match a Barcelona in relative decline by their own high standards. However, the Premier League is still the most watchable and most competitive league in the world simply because Bayern Munich were winning 4-0, 6-1 and 5-0 week in and week out, probably too for Barcelona and Real Madrid, the EPL throws out more surprises such as the improbable victory by lowly Wigan over Man City in the F.A. Q-Cup final. That is romance or the many weekly surprises and upsets. However, there is p
