God For A Day

Some of us don't believe in God and there are those of us who do. Yet there are others who believe there is the devil but even the devil believes n God. For one is light and the other is darkness.

Even those who believe there is God do not seem to live as if there is God. They fail to see the wonders of everyday miracles. They never thanked God. Yet, when something is wrong they are the first to blame God. I would grieve on that, let alone God. Have you dealt with people like that before? You do all the wonderful things for them which they never knew nor appreciated then after they get all the goodies they turn around and bite you.

There are also those who seems Godly by convenience. Like Seven Eleven, they are open 24 hours and is like a convenience store. They can appear very good on the surface or strut their good side and best behaviour when others are watching but do the opposite as long as it benefits them and whenever it is convenient. Do we do charitable works to be seen by man or do so quietly?

All of us, none excluded will always find it so easy to criticise others for example. We can pick so many bones or split hairs with others and yet the slightest comments about you that are not what you think or in your favour and you can go berserk. That is the human condition. You may be used to hearing people say "If I were the boss, I will.....", "If I were so and so, I would .....". Wait till you are the boss and when you are so and so and when you comes to that situation, it can be quite a different thing. Ask a worker who becomes his own boss and now has his own employees. Don't count  your chicken before they hatch.

So what I am saying is quite simply that is it easy to talk and convenient to see things from our own angle. You see a wealthy man and you want to live his life because you could only see that perhaps you can live a lavish lifestyle but you didn't get to experience his trauma, worries, stress, disappointments or loneliness. You never knew the sacrifices he has made.

Ask yourself a question. If you have a chance to be somebody else would you rather be yourself or that somebody else? Would you rather be a sparrow than a snail? A hammer than a nail? Simon and Garfunkel will tell you:

What if God was one of us? As Joan Osborne told us? Just a slob like one of us. Smells like trouble.

Ha ha we would all be in trouble! Everybody wants power but few know how to use it or control it. Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Here's Tears For Fears.

Let's just say that we look all around the world today, there are financial crisis, economic recession, war, floods, droughts, diseases, hunger, poverty, famines, etc. and we say hey God why are all these things happening? Why aren't you the Almighty doing something for human kind? You are not doing a good job, let me take over! So, let's just say that you can now be God for a day. You have the power and the might. What would you do for the world at large? What are your priorities? Who would you help? What can you do? Can you show a standard that is equal for all? Humans like to play God sometimes.

The first thing that you might have done was probably zapping someone to death albeit accidentally just because of the way he drives which angered you. Would you be fair and just or does it depends on who you knew when making a decision? Would there be righteousness and courage? Would you inspire the poor to be rich and the weak to be strong? Would you show mercy at all times, forgives everyone easily and is always kind? Would you be selfless and make sacrifices for others? Always love and never hate? Would you never pass a judgement on anyone? Are you pure and righteous? Or just self righteous? Let him who is righteous cast the first stone.

These are just a few reasons that I could think of and halfway through, all of us would have failed. We simply could not qualify. We measure things, people and others by our own standards. Some people collude with others to scheme and waylaid innocent people. The truth is we can't even rule ourselves let alone to rule others or rule the world. None of us can be God. Not even close even if you purify yourself a thousand times. We are tainted if we stood beside Him due to the pureness and righteousness of His throne. It could be like you have just come out of a dark theatre  after a movie or a pub during the day and the sunlight hits your face. Maybe multiply it by thousands or millions of times. That could be the magnitude. That is how short we are of  glory.

If we were to be God for a day, there will be greater troubles. How do I know? Just look at the world today and the mess it is and multiply it by the power of God if bestowed upon you then assess the damage. Unthinkable!! Stay away! We would have left a trail of destruction. What will you do if you can be God for a day? No, let me rephrase it - what will you do as a person if you try to play God for a day? Eliminate poverty? Save the children? Eliminate hunger and starvation? Give redemption to mankind?

Just be careful that when you hear a voice, it is God speaking to you or through your conscience. If you were to hear "God is busy, may I help you?" It is probably the devil.

I give you an illustration that a hammer can be a weapon of destruction or a tool to build. Watch Thor (a brilliant movie, go watch it if you haven'ts. Spectacular).

Thor's scheming brother Loki was just like what the serpent did in the Garden of Eden. Did God really say you shouldn't eat from this tree? If anyone one of us were to be God for a day, there will be mayhem worldwide. Believe you me. None can be God for even a day!

There was this man who asked God: "God, what is a million years to you? And God said: "It is just a minute". The same man then asked: "God, what is a million dollars to you?" Then God replied: "It is just a penny." With his face lighted up, the man quickly asked: "Dear God, can you give me a penny?" God smiled and replied: "Just a minute."

Is there really a God? What do you fathom God to be? Can we pray to God and then go on to do some bad or evil things? Or simply to bad mouth others behind their bad. Can we even let evil come into our mind in the first place? You can try to find God but just be careful and have it tested out. Ask a lot of questions or you can ask God to find you. We cannot be God. Can never be.

Metamorphosis

We are all the same, on the same boat, on a journey. We are different but as different as we come, we are one and the same. The picture you see above describes a human's metamorphosis and the stages of life. First the milk bottle then the Coke bottle, the beer bottle and finally the drip.

Some of you may confused the third and fourth stage of life in that you put beer in your IV drip for faster effect.

Good night as it is ungodly hours.
