EPL Game Week 8

Haha what a week of EPL action! As it is trending right now, it is getting clearer how the season is going to turn out. As we set up for Game Week 8, let's factor in some happenings from Game Week 7 and join me to gaze into the crystal ball.

Game Week 8

Liverpool v Manchester United - Liverpool was doing well and suddenly collapsed a couple of games and we asked some questions? Now Everton was indeed a stern test at Goodison Park but even the guy you are asking question of scored - Andy Carroll. It is no easy feat to win at Everton and Luis Suarez is a very influential figure for the Anfield faithfuls. Can they take the Mickey out of the Red Devils? Rooney was back but in unfamiliar territory, I mean his hairstyle. Man U had to put on a workmanlike performance to overcome Norwich 2-0. The previous week they stuttered a bit though they could do no wrong from the beginning and suddenly they actually look beatable. Both sides will raise their game but who will triumph? Pool is on the upswing while the Devils is looking a bit bedevilled with injuries and all. Usually it could be a tight game and may be a draw or the Mancunian team could get a tight win. Can Liverpool surprise as Man U is due a loss? 2-1?

Manchester City v Aston Villa - Villa's season will not be to bad if they could keep going like that. A 2-0 over Wigan is good. Man City outplayed by Bayern Munich came back and tore Blackburn apart at Ewood Park. Aguero was injured. Can Dzeko deliver or would he be fielded by Mancini considering his petulance when substituted? Carlos Tevez was worse when he refused to come on as a sub. Well, they can depend on Balotelli who scored. Mancini wanted Robbie van Persie from Arsenal. They are buying out the competition. If I had the money, I would just buy over the clubs and then call them Manchester City, Manchester Rovers, Manchester Wanderers, Manchester Park Rangers, etc. Do not expect Villa to lie down though. Agbonlahor is on fire and has alrready scored more goals now than the entire season last year. Samir Nasri has claimed 6 assists for City in 5 games. 2-1.

Norwich v Swansea - Norwich played well against the champions and conceded two but Swansea put two past Stoke without reply when Man U could not. These two may surprise a few of the top teams. They should share the spoils. 2-2.

QPR v Blackburn Rovers - QPR was doing really fine until they totally collapse last week. Wonder what they were doing the day and night before. Blackburn is also facing a bleak season so far. You really don't want to predict anything here. Which team will bounce back? They will have to start collecting every valuable point from here and not wait for Christmas. This must have been Rover's worse start for a long time. They should be going for broke. 3-3.

Stoke v Fulham - If you had turned on the television that day you would not believe how Fulham was thrashing QPR finally to the tune of 6-0. Unbelievable! Do they now fear Stoke even away when Stoke had just faltered? Stoke remain a tough team to best especially at home but they have lost when you expect them to win and win when expected to lose. 1-1. Why? Because FUlham has been unbeaten in the last 7 matches.

Wigan v Bolton - These are two teams who you will feel for them and also feel they deserve better. Owen Coyle got Blackpool to play courageously previously. Save for the impressive opener win by 4-0, it has been downhill all the way and getting trounced. They really need something big and good to happen before it is too late. Wigan could win this one as morale is low for the visitors. This is probably the worst ever start for Bolton ever. Wigan will have to cease the opportunity. 2-1.

Chelsea v Everton - You do not need more evidence if you had seen how Chelsea demolished Bolton 5-1 away. It looked so comfortable and mind you Fernando Torres has started scoring. They are looking very capable indeed of catching up with the two Mancunian teams. Everton was unfortunate to loose to Liverpool and now they have to face a resurgent Chelsea away. Bad news is that Tim Cahill is facing a dry spell but Tim Howard has saved 4 out of 7 penalties he had faced. Talking about double whammy. 2-0.

WBA v Wolves - WBA was leading Sunderland 2-0 and I do not know how they did it. Then as suddenly they conceded 2 to let Sunderland back to level and finished at 2-2. WBA is one team that really deserve more. Meanwhile, Wolves' bright start has stagnated. Losing 1-2 at home to the Magpies in their last outing. WBA has a good chance to ace this one. 3-2.

Arsenal v Sunderland - While Sunderland is stuttering, Arsenal's hopes for the title is almost over in such a short and inglorious start. They could have drawn Tottenham in the last game but they are lacking the confidence and assurance that they used to have. The Gunners has been pathetic away from home and Theo Walcott must realize his potential instead of shooting all over the places.  I feel for Arsene Wenger. Arsenal must restore the confidence to make others fear coming to the Emirates stadium. It is teams like this that Arsenal must overcome not just beating other top teams. I think they are badly in need of an emphatic win. 3-1.
Newcastle v Tottenham - St. James Park and the Toon Army is truly having an extended lifeline in the top echelon. They may probably have the best defence right now and are winning even away from home. This is an entirely different team. Alan Pardew must have done a great job! Tottenham is the first of many more stronger tests coming their way and will ask questions of their pedigree. Wenger can take a leave from Newcastle how their defence have been the star performer. It could end with a draw. A solid defence versus an enterprising attack. 1-1. Watch Kyle Walker the Spurs right back. This boy could be a future England star.

Same old usual suspect with a bit of twist. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea are looking the part. Tottenham is looking good but can Arsenal catch up? What about Liverpool? Before you predict who will will the title, it is easier to predict who will lose their job soon. Steve Kean at Blackburn is in danger even before the season started and now with one win in eight games, he is a candidate. Steve Bruce at Sunderland is in exactly the same situation with a win in 8. Only Owen Coyle at Bolton is in a worse situation with 11 losses in 12 games. Bolton has even conceded 15 goals in 4 home games. Their only consolation is that they have played the top five teams.  David Moyes at Everton may not be sacked but he may leave because at the moment Everton is limited. Arsene Wenger makes all the money for Arsenal though without a trophy for some years. He won't be sacked and only when he felt enough is enough.

This is an unusual week. Steve Jobs has died. The legend got fired by the friend he hired to run the company before coming back to resurrect it. What a guy. Respect. R.I.P. Then we read about Mr. Lee Kuan Yew resigning from the CEC and the stock market bloodbath.

What shall we do except but to have a great soccer weekend!
