Kung Fu Duck

I know all kinds of duck. Live duck, braised duck, roast duck, herbal duck and Duffy Duck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42Lf7yNhdtk

Recently, I discovered a new one - "Kung Fu Duck". I didn't any historical checks but I have passed by this place many times at Ubi and curiosity got the better of me. The duck knows kung fu? The cooking style of the duck was discovered through kung fu? Or was it through kung fu the duck was discovered? The restaurant's name is actually "First Culinary".

If the air-conditioned interior is full you can be seated outside or when you prefer alfresco. The menu ranged from small items for several dollars to sophisticated Buddha Jumps Over The Wall for much more of course.

A display of the chef and the caption "New Chapters of Emperor Culinary".

They offer the same drink I used to have at Jumbo where they called Green Island which is probably made from vegetable (Chye Sim) and pineapple. A pick-me-up refreshing drink.

Another wall has a full display that look like a kung fu secret manual.

There were only three of us that day so what we could order was limited. We had roast pork and it was well made except that the pork taste was strong and overpowering.

Then came the the signature "Kung Fu Duck". Just one quarter of it and it was a good cut, size and real meaty and came well presented. It was so well cut into bite size that you do not need to have kung fu fight with the duck. Step 1 - pick it up with chopsticks, Step 2 - put it into mouth. You'll be so happy that you can hum along Carl Douglas's "Kung-Fu Fighting" Ho ho ho ho. Ho ho ho ho: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhUkGIsKvn0

It was good enough eaten plain but two options were given as dip. Century-egg or sweet plum. Both very good.

We gave the oyster omelette a shot and it was good too.

Crab meat fried rice is always tempting.

So too Black Bean Beef Hor Fun. It was pretty good hor fun.

It is not easy to find good hor fun these days. I need mine with "wok hei" as all good hor fun should be and next a solid gravy.

Come join me the next time. I should go in search of really good hor fun soon. Join in hor and have fun!
