Pasir Ris Fish Farm

As of now in December 2011, Bangladesh and Myanmar became the 96th and 97th countries to have accessed my blog. Three more to a century. I'll be a good global citizen. When I can't go to the mountain, the mountain must come to me. Thanks to the Internet.

I didn't know Singapore has so many fish farms just for ornamental fish alone! From Sungei Tengah, Kranji, Pasir Ris to Selatar you have got them all, each one is the same yet different. They will have their Arowana, guppy, Luo Han, etc. but not every decor, variety of species is the same. I jsut checked this one out at Pasir Ris and they even have a small farm for "foul play". They have ducks at a pond.

Or geese roaming around.

Then chickens on a roof top. Money for nothing and chicks for free. Here is Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits:

The usual Koi (not the bubble tea type).

Koi normally come to people when you go near them but a friend told me his Koi scatter when he gets near. May be he has been eating too much fish.

What really caught our attention was the Arapaima and Gar pond.

Arapaima and Gar are gigantic Amazonian river fish.

These huge beasts are things of beauty.

At this fram, you can purchase a small pail of chicken liver to feed them and watch them feed. Smart way to feed the fish for free.

Beware when feeding as they huge monsters can make a really big splash and get you wet.

Bring the children here to enjoy.

The water is deep and dark.

They have a huge and beautiful tank which is filled with fish so much so that it resembles a school of fish in the deep ocean.

Just like busy people in a crowded city. We are just like fish.

And this is a big gar in another huge tank.

An interesting cylindrical tank housed some large Red Tail Cat fish. This place seems to allow bookings for company events there where there are other activities like prawn fishing, etc. available.

We also caught a glimpse of small Alligator Gar which when fully grown can be like what the name suggest: alligators.
