EPL Game Week 15

EPL Game Week 15

Chelsea took a deep breath and survived, Man City continues unabated, Man Utd are the new 1-0 specialist, Newcastle's surprising unbeaten record came to and end and lost twice in 3 games, Tottenham are now like fighting cocks and Liverpool ...while Arsenal who started well traditionally and lost steam towards the end has reversed their own trend by starting poorly and now steaming. Christmas will be a real test. While we enjoy ourselves partying, the footballers will be having their most stressful moments at this time of the year in the EPL. I only like their salaries not their job at this time.

Arsenal v Everton - Arsenal has hit a purple patch. Vermaelen's return has given the defence confidence. He has scored 3 goals in 2 games but just like some golfers who can score 2 pars in one hole, he scored both versus Fulham playing villain and hero. Only one person in the world is better than him and that was our very own Lim Tong Hai. Everton is having a troubled season losing 0-1 to Stoke in the last game. An in-form Arsenal would be too much too soon. 2-0.

Bolton v Aston Villa - Bolton is in terrible shape after being crushed 3-0 at White Hart lane. Villa was unfortunate to lose 0-1 to Man U. They threw everything they have at the Devils but that lone Phil Jones goal was enough to carry through. Villa lost 3 points at home and must now steal back 3. 1-2.

Liverpool v QPR - Liverpool should have signed Scott Parker. With Gerrard in a fragile state, the outstanding Lucas now out, Liverpool have a gap to fill. Losing to Fulham was a bad result dealing a blow to their resurgence. Do they now have the cutting edge to win at home vs QPR? It depends on Suarez. 2-1.

Manchester United v Wolves - Injury woes have reared its ugly head. This one is easy. Just say they will win 1-0 again but at home and against Wolves? Wolves has been a banana skin for the Devils before, can they trip up United? 1-0. Watch Phil Jones. This kid is only 19 and he has been a regular for the Red Devils playing at full back as well as centre half and even as defensive midfielder and has already played for England. He has a big future if his head and neck are screwed to his shoulders. Is he the next Duncan Edwards. Bobby Charlton to this day rated Duncan Edwards as the best footballer he has ever seen and Charlton has played with and against the very best. Meanwhile, Utd is out of Europe, the first time in mnay years. They can only focus on the League.

Norwich v Newcastle - The Canaries was walloped 1-5 by City while the Magpies was downed 0-3 by Chelsea. Demba Ba could have scored a couple if not for the stanchion. Newcatle needs to get their season back on track. Canaries 1 Magpies 2. Bird fight.

Swansea v Fulham - How did Swansea lose 2-4 to Blackburn? Fulham is on a high after a 1-0 win over Pool but Swansea is at home. 2-2.

WBA v Wigan - WBA has been doing quite well while Wigan just got whacked 0-4 by the Gunners. It is an opportunity for WBA to pull further away from the rest. 2-1.

Sunderland v Blackburn - Can Martin O'Neill save the Black Cats after watching them go down 1-2 to Wolves. Will Blackburn be inspired by their 4-2 win over Swansea?  These are the very matches they must win to stay afloat. Blackburn will be inspired to continue to win but Sunderland is at home at the Stadium of Light but this season they have failed at home. Can Martin O'Neill have an immediate impact? Not yet but just a little as they need to beef up their attack. 1-1.

Stoke v Tottenham - Stoke is doing surprising well in Europe. Can they stop a marauding Tottenham who just whipped Bolton 3-0 with Jermaine Defoe in fine form. It is the worst time to face Spurs. Can Stoke put a halt to Tottenham? 1-2 and Defoe to score again.

Chelsea v Manchester City - This will the the "Star" match. Will Chelsea be the first team to beat Man City? Which Blue will shine brighter? Both will be somewhat fatigued by mid-week European sojourns in do or die missions. It is hard to beat City. On current form, only Tottenham and Arsenal could. AVB was brave and he brough Chelsea back with a vintage performance as they routed Valencia 3-0 with Drogba in top form. With City out of Europe, they can now focus on the League. The top two English sides are out of Europe. 2-2.

While most of my picks last week was correct in who won, I've got two perfect scores when Wolves beat Sunderland 2-1 and QPR was held 1-1 by WBA, it is an unenviable job.
