Beautiful Punggol

Punggol is beautiful. I have visited many times and seen and explored the various places and written about it since a year ago.

A hot and sunny day out can do wonders for you, sometimes too much wonders like sunburn. The last time we were here we reached only the Halus Bridge, the way ahead like a website was still under construction. Let's look at the architecture and curvature of the board walk.

You'll still find ignorant or inconsiderate users who were probably using a portable BBQ pit here. Will folks do this in their own home?

Now a new stretch has been completed right across.

A lovely place to take a stroll in the morning or evening.

Walk ahead to a risen bridge just like how we must rise to life's many challenges.

A great view awaits you there at the pavilion.

The Halus Bridge that connects you across to Lorong Halus.

And the Lorong Halus Bridge from a wider angle.

We saw a boat passing by. Must have been PUB staffs, one of them an old man was waving to us. We waved back.

A river of life. Water is life.

Another staff boat from PUB.

The arc of the bridge and its connector was quite a sight.

It was not just water under the bridge. There were pretty flowers and plants.

And aquatic life too.

Welcome to the Sunrise Bridge. Probably a good place to catch a sunrise.

Punggol is really a water town.

This is like a gateway.

Go up the elevated Sunrise Bridge to soak in the panoramic 360 degrees view. Stairway To Heaven? Ladies and gentlemen, Led Zeppelin:

First - the rising bridge.

Then looking down on the board walk from where we came.

Zooming in a bit on the Lorong Halus Birdge. It looks like a caterpillar crawling away except it has less legs.

Future development as you can see an excavator working away.

Directly above from the pavilion you can see the river gateway where the water flows in to the town. An awesome sight to behold.

From which you could make a brochure to sell condos.

Or a golf course or simply a park. It is quite heavenly if you look up the sky.

Foreign workers taking cover under the bridge during a lunch break. Can we make do without them? Most of them are decent people who need to eke out a living for their family back home. Do you know that we could also be like them?

We walked over to Halus for an update. There are now quite big fish in the pond, mostly cichlid and catfish.

We discovered that the old and empty pond is now beautifully clothed and richly dotted with water lillies! Look at the sparkle even in solitude.

If only we were little fairies that can jump on the leaves and play on water.

I hope you have enjoyed the nature walk thus far. Please follow suit on Part II of the article....
