EPL Game Week 22

Singapore did very well when they won in their MSL opener away. They open accounts and withdrew from the ATM.

Over to the EPL, if Manchester United continues this way they will win the league. Only their noisy neighbour might pose a little challenge. You see, like me, Sir Alex Ferguson knows how to build a winning team. Some of us may not like him or the Red Devils but they have that winning mentality.

Villa v Southampton - Villa was in really bad shape coming into the last game to face pass masters Swansea. Not only did they restricted the host to two goals they showed they could score too and led the match. This was a few thousand % improvement in form. Meantime, at the St. Mary's, Southampton matched the Gunners in a good 1-1 draw. They have learned how to play in the EPL finally. While Villa got beaten 3-1 by Bradford, Southampton got thrashed 5-1 at home by Chelsea. Before that Chelsea debacle, the Saints were unbeaten in three matches. Villa will not get a victory here but both sides will concede. 2-2.

Everton v Swansea - Everton is possibly one of the teams of the season. With such limited resources, they have found wondrous success just like me so I can identify with them. They are better than me and many other clubs. Give it to David Moyes. In their last three meetings, Everton has won all of them. A Everton win for me.
2-1.

Fulham v Wigan - Both sides are not in the form of their lives. Fulham won just one of their last twelve matches before an away 2-1 win over WBA. Meantime, Wigan picked up only four points in their last eight matches conceding two or more goals in their last eleven matches and have a series of injuries. The Latics have failed to beat Fulham in their last twelve meetings between them. A home win for Fulham. 2-1.

Norwich v Newcastle - The Canaries lost four on the trot recently but they are good side who were on a ten match unbeaten run prior to this. The Magpies were not much better losing four on the trot too the last one being a horrendous 2-0 loss to lowly  Brighton in the F.A. Cup. Newcastle has not won away this season. Their head to head record is all square. With Demba Ba having gone to Chelsea and injuries mounting, the Magpies are in grave danger unless Papiss Cisse pick up his heroics. 3-2.

Reading v WBA - Reading have lost eight and won only match in their last ten attempts but only Arsenal, Man Utd and Tottenham have been victorious in their den . WBA have won once and lost five in their last eight. Reading have a habit of losing their grasp from winning position. WBA top scorer Shane Long was a former Reading player. In their last two encounters both won one a piece at home by 1-0 margins. It will be a draw. 2-2.

Stoke v Chelsea - Stoke remains one of the most difficult teams to beat but they haven't won in three matches. Chelsea's form is in patches or like the see-saw playing brilliantly one moment and then losing 2-0 to Swansea in the C. Cup. Moses and Mikel are away for the Africa Cup and Demba Ba could play a key role and yes Frank Lampard, Chelsea legend in his swansong season is in fine form. Stoke are unbeaten in 17 EPL games at home. Lampard just need one more goal to beat another legend Kerry Dixon as both are at 193 goals. Chelsea won thrice in five encounters but all at home and drew both away matches. 1-1.

Sunderland v West Ham - Go figure Sunderland. They could beat Man City 1-0 then lost 3-0 at Liverpool. Martin O'Neill may lose John O'Shea to injury. They are all even in five previous meetings. It may not be a pretty game to watch. Both sides drew 2-2 in their F.A. Cup matches - Sunderland away to Bolton and West Ham at home to Man Utd. With Sunderland's injuries, the Hammers could pip them here. 1-2.

Man Utd v Liverpool - This one is epic but Liverpool has been forgotten except maybe in Singapore. Two key players to watch are of course Robin van Persie who not only have scored 16 goals but he has six assists while Steven Gerrard has eight assists. Liverpool face a tough test as Utd has won seven home games in a row. They are even in their past five meetings but in 2012 Liverpool lost both matches. Utd have been in terrific form. 2-1.

Arsenal v Man City - Arsenal was on a row till Southampton held them to a draw. Walcott has scored 16 goals with six assists making him the Gunners' most important player. Their match up tended to be not more than two goals but City led in wins 3 to 1. City will miss Yahya Toure who is on national duty in the Africa Cup and Aguero is injured. Tevez will have to lead. Draw. 1-1.

QPR v Tottenham - In their London Derby, QPR shocked everyone when they had Chelsea beaten 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. This is another London derby and Loftus Road is home but they are facing a marauding Tottenham side full of vigour. Despite this, QPR have lost just once to Tottenham in Premier League history. QPR is a carbon copy of Spurs as five of their players used to be with Spurs. So was Harry Redknapp. In 2012, QPR won 1-0 in their home tie but lost 1-2 away. Will Harry do a Houdini here? QPR can hope for a draw if they play the right game. 1-1
