Christmas And New Year Indulgence

3's a turkey and four's a bagger in bowling and so the festive season came and went so quickly. Christmas, the New Year, the Lunar New Year so that's a turkey. Everything is coming in earlier these days. I told you about the Lunar New Year cookies being available by Christmas. At the rate we are going, every festival would be jumbled one day. Maybe we will have a crossover or hybrid celebration. Why are we rushing to get ahead of time? Getting ahead can get you behind since the earth is rotating.

What did I do for Christmas? We had family dinner with turkey over the weekend before Christmas of course.

Ham. This can be used as a weapon.

Tomatoes, zucchini and lettuce.

Potato.

Pork ribs. I wonder if they chopped a pig, took out its ribs, do they leave the poor sow to die. If not, why do they do that to sharks?

When I was young, I remembered that we only have meat like chicken, duck and so on during festive occasions. So turkey is the new festive meat so we do not eat it every day? Today, we can have meat 3-4 times a day 24/7. That's a new world danger. When we can have something everyday, we may not appreciate it as much. Just like today's children who can have new clothes  or toys and gadgets everyday unlike the old days.

Too much meat can be a problem. So some pineapples can do the trick. Pineapple was said to have been discovered by Christopher Columbus and it was named pineapple because "pina" means small in Spanish and apple in English. So when someone calls you pina boy or your brain is pina you know what it is.

The flesh is commonly consumed but do you know that the best part of the pineapple is the core as it contains valuable nutrients and vitamins. Bromelain is a protein enzyme found in pineapples. It has health benefits for humans and the core has the most enzymes. Go eat some pineapples and do not throw away the core.

How to polish up a leg?

Have many slices of ham for some days to come. You can make a refreshing sandwich. How about turkey/ham sandwich?

And of course chocolates! Sinfully good, it is.

I was back home early on Christmas Eve and I needed a beer, a cool Foster. There was a gathering of friends.

It was at the house of Red Rock where the beer flows. Thanks to  Adrian and Michelle as the hosts with the most and the mostest!

Lam's and Kwan's specially ordered fried bee hoon by a Hong Kong chef. So delicious with power chili to boot. I love bee hoon and found such simple food irresistible. I had a couple of rounds.

Ah Teck's otah. No, Teck didn't made it, supply or sell them. He bought it for us. Very nice!

Guns and Roses? We belted out some favourite Christmas songs but the resident domestic helper was the resident pro. She was the best singer. If it were X factor I would put her into the next round.

Holidays can leave people more tired than normal. It is common for most people to over indulge. Come Boxing Day and we needed something different. We went back to what we knew best - zi char and BBQ chili lala!

Assam "ang koli" (Bream) fish head is quite a champion dish to sample. Especially for chili lovers who love to spice up their life. Can you see how hot it was with the fire burning below that  bubbles were popping up.

Chunks of lovely fish meat which blended so well with the assam gravy which you can use to drown your white rice.

Bring it on, I want to eat this again. I do not necessary want the Chinese Lunar New Year to come too soon. There is work to be done, quite an awful lot of it. More than that after CNY there is a dearth of holidays. There will be a holiday draught. Singapore needs more public holidays!

On New Year's Eve I was at the Bungy Bar with old friends. I left my mobile phone behind. No pictures were taken at all as a result. I did not feel I am missing something. It is a good sign perhaps. We enjoyed the food and drinks. When the fireworks came up with brilliant sparkles in the night sky at midnight creating a kaleidoscope, I cried as I watched our taxpayers money exploding in the midst of our revelry. I asked - should all acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?

For Auld Lang Syne, my dear. It "Long Gone Since".
