Good Friday And Easter

There is world of difference working a five-day week and five and a half-day week. Everybody was working on Saturdays for half a day those days and if you got to work a little later, your Saturday was gone. Then you do what you got to do on a Sunday and you are back to the daily grind. Due to such anticipation, Sundays weren't too appealing nor exciting and so you have the Monday Blues which actually started on Sundays.

With smarter work and technology, more effective systems, five-day work week became quite the norm. With it, your weekend starts on Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays became truly a weekend. This is important as all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Still, people continue to suffer from the Monday Blues. Why? Overindulgence even on a Sunday? So, Friday and Saturday are the best days of the week and for letting the hair down, unwinding or heading to meet friends or dining, Friday night is the best day of all. And so it went "Thank God It's Friday!" or TGIF!! Restaurants and pubs have spawned that name. I mean after Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says W T F.

You get Monday blues, really got your engine warmed up by Tuesday, Wednesday may be the busiest day yet, Thursday perhaps a regular day and then TGIF!! You see, come Friday, most people become like deflated balloons - all your air has been let out and you are by now - flat! We hope to clear most work by Friday only to be rewarded with more the next week. You must realise by now that only Robinson Crusoe got all his work done by "Friday".

This Friday is the most special Friday of each year because it is "Good Friday" and is a public holiday. It means a shorter work week and a longer weekend! Are you not grateful and happy? Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Cavalry AD33. It is also known as Easter Friday, Great Friday, Black Friday or Holy Friday.

According to the Gospels, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. His Resurrection is celebrated on Easter or Easter Sunday.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. - John 10:10 (KJV).

He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we may die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. - 1 Peter 2: 24 (NIV).

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. -Isaiah 53: 5

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. - Isaiah 53: 6.

Yes Friday is the best day of the work week, no doubt about it. After all the hard work, Friday is a day of satisfaction and achievement. A day to signal that rest and recuperation is on the way. I wish every Friday is a Good Friday. I Thank God It's Friday! TGIF!!
