Bangkok, Food Trail - 2

Continued from part 1.....

http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2015/01/bangkok-food-trail-1.html

We had some time and so we descended onto the night market. Everybody knows the famous Chatuchak weekend market. It sells everything and anything including live animals but it can get so freaking hot during the day. Then there was the Suan Lum Night Bazaar near Lumpini Park at Rama 4. It was a cooler place with lesser people.

After its closure, there have been many that tried to fill that gap and this is finally it.

Asiatique, The Riverfront located at the old warehouse of the East Asiatic Company. This is identical to our Clarke Quay I felt.

They have a mini ferris wheel.

For a guy, I can do a bit of shopping but that interest can only be sustained for half a day at best. This is already better than  most guys. A holiday can be more tiring and stressful than a normal day.

We bunked in late, at least later than a typical morning at work back home.

I wanted my favourite omelette by now.

The convenience of staying at Siam Square cannot be overstated. It is always strange to me that you may not have seen or met a friend, relative or an old neighbour in Singapore for sometime and yet in a place like Bangkok, you are likely to bump into them. We bumped into an old neighbour this time at the overhead bridge to connects to Central, Platinum. Looking down a typical Bangkok jam.

Even in the evening. Maybe it is peak season. It took us quite awhile to go to certain places by car.

I like Bangkok. So in your face even with the back alleys...

...and wires. Warts and all.

Maybe it is just commercial, Christmas is big in Bangkok.

There are Snowman and Santa Claus everywhere.

The shopping even on the side walks are vibrant.

And there is nothing like a Black Canyon coffee when in Thailand, any part of Thailand.

I spotted a shop that perhaps should change its name.

We mixed things up with some cheap food at the food court. The popular stewed pig trotters.

And shark's fins.

With crab meat.

Not the same as those at Yaowarat in Bangkok's Chinatown.

At the Platinum. I think Platinum is a better place now to shop than MBK.

Me and a lifelong secret admirer.

One more shot before dinner. I am beginning to like the Snowman. Sometimes it is better than dealing with people.

The evening jam was bad. Took probably twice the time to get there to the Andaman.

Even the security knows me.

This is an interesting restaurant.

Firstly, I have never in my life anywhere eaten sashimi in such huge chunks. You actually need to stretch your jaw to devour a single piece. I saw a dainty lady tearing up a piece of sashimi. Chunky sashimi gives a different feel and taste. I like it! I hope they give me sashimi this size back home for the same price.

A fabulous tuna salad.

Would you believe it? Foie Gras sushi!

Deadly yummy. Hate the sin but love the sinner. Always, as Jesus does.

The tuna cuts are equally chunky. Really good for the bite.

Pork Ribs anyone?

Do you see why it is an interesting restaurant by now? Not just good pork ribs but the cuisine of East meets West!

This concoction of grilled salmon said it all.

They have really good pizza too.

In a place like that nobody could miss anything and everybody will have something - even Duck Comfit and...

As if not enough - Pork Knuckles.

With superb Lobster.

But hey you will be surprised that my pick of the evening and favourite of them all dishes was this humble spaghetti.

The most fantastic seafood spaghetti I have ever had! It must have been the delicate blend of chilli padi fused into it. A "Must Eat!" here believe you me.

If you like Sotong (squid) ink spaghetti.

Andaman. Check this out!

Show the security guard his photo when you get there so that he will know that he is now famous!

To be Continued.....if I have more stories to tell.
