Ok, this is your starter, your appetiser:

I watched the best match of the season on New Year's day when Tottenham Hotspurs tore Chelsea apart at White Hart Lane. Once again, this is the beauty of the EPL. It was unthinkable. Spurs attacked from the start and were very likely to score for 18 minutes then Chelsea gave them the sucker punch and we went oh no not again. Then it went on to 4-1, 4-2, 5-2 and finally 5-3. What a game!

It was incredible end to end stuff. At the end, a new rising star of the EPL has been found - Hurricane as I call him or Harry Kane who to Spurs fan now must be King Harry who tormented and destroyed impregnable Chelsea at will and almost single-handedly. He is very good in the air, a sharp shooter, good with both feet and is the best cross shooter in the EPL. He could could be moving to one side and shooting to the other. Nobody does it better. Roy Hodgson must now be rubbing both his hands in glee. If Harry keeps his head screwed to his shoulders, he will be a big star.

Kane has been a Tottenham youth player and was previously on loan and he has represented England at Under 17, 19, 20 and 21 levels. 4 years ago, he played 22 times for Spurs Under-18 and scored 18 times. Tottenham must have been energised and inspired by this big performance by the team. Harry Kane's first goal against Chelsea was a thing of such magnificence and beauty. He is going to be a great striker with a bright future provided his head remains screwed onto his shoulders.

Sunderland v Liverpool - The Black Cats gave City a fright the other week. Liverpool gave themselves a fright too when they allowed Leicester a comeback for a draw after that fine Swansea win. Liverpool have been unbeaten in their last five league matches and Sunderland have not beaten them in their previous five meetings. A narrow away win for Liverpool. 1-2.

Burnley v QPR - Burnley are in good form, they held Man City away (2-2), Newcastle away (3-3) and Spurs at home (1-1) and now unbeaten in 3 matches. QPR so good at home have now not won their last two at home and even lost at home 0-3 to Sheffield United in the F.A. Cup. Both sides have an equal historical record. A win for Burnley at Turf Moor as QPR have been poor away from home. 2-1.

Chelsea v Newcastle - Chelsea was lucky to still lead the table after that 3-5 hiding from red hot Tottenham. They must be reeling from that defeat and the Magpies may suffer a backlash here. On the other hand, Newcastle should have learnt a thing or two on how to dismantle Chelsea. Anyway, it was they who had Chelsea beaten for the first time when they met at St. James Park. In fact, in their last 5 meetings, they never drew a single match with Chelsea having won both their home matches and Newcastle won all 3 home matches. A Chelsea in at Stamford Bridge is definitely on the cards. 2-0.

Everton v Man City - Everton have been terrible with their results this season and they have lost their last four matches and have not won in five. City are back to winning ways after that blip at home to Burnley. It is hard to fathom an Everton win even at home. 1-2.

(Man City v Sunderland):

Leicester v Villa - Left propping the table, the Foxes are hitting form having beaten Hull away and also having held Liverpool away and promptly followed that with a home win over Newcastle in the F.A. Cup. Villa are unbeaten in 2 matches but have not scored in 3 but have a far superior head to head record. Home win. 1-0.

Swansea v West Ham - Save for Bony, the Swans are not exactly on fire. The Irons are also currently not as hot and losing some steam but have a better head to head record. Both teams may have to wait a little longer for their next win. 1-1.

WBA v Hull - The Baggies are now on LLLDW and the Tigers are on LWLWL. One point separated both teams. In the past a win could go either way but they ended mostly with draws. Hull have not scored in their last 3 matches. Home win. 2-1.

Palace v Tottenham - Palace halted their losing streak and now unbeaten in their last 2 league matches. Spurs are on a WWDW and their last match was most memorable. Nobody score 5 goals past Chelsea, come on but they did and did so with much guts and class. I Spurs bring the same game on, Palace will be in trouble. 0-2.

Arsenal v Stoke - In 27 matches, the Gunners lost just once at the Emirates so you could sense the gigantic task of visitors but if Stoke could target their soft spot effectively, a draw may be within reach especially if they play Peter Crouch who likes to score against Arsenal with 8 goals so far, his highest against any club. Arsenal suffered a 2-0 beating at St. Mary's but came back to beat Hull 2-0 in the Cup but Stoke are enjoying a bit of revival so far unbeaten in their last 4 matches. Arsenal won their last two meetings at the Emirates. Home win because they have Alexis Sanchez. 2-1.

Man Utd v Southampton - The Red Devils are doing well in third. The Saints are a point behind in fourth. Their past five meetings were close with Utd having won by a one goal margin or draw but Southampton have not won. United drew their last two matches and for Southampton to have beaten Arsenal is quite something. I say a draw. 1-1.
