EPL Game Week 6

When I wrote about Liverpool's position on the new iPhone 5, I received stern warnings from some Liverpool fans. Now it has become worst and they can't go lower. He that is down needs fear no fall but you need a bigger screen and iPhone 6 won't come so soon. Based on probability alone, Liverpool will win their next game for sure. To save my life, I wasn't the one who started the Liverpool joke. Here is the evidence.

Someone also said to me, how many match scores have you predicted correctly at least for the Win/Draw/Loose out of the total. Well,  maybe I used to get 4 or 5 including 2 perfect scores. Last week, my form was very good. Here is the evidence (actual score with my prediction in bracket), I've got 8 WxDxL including 4 perfect scores:

Swansea 0 Everton 3 (2-2)
Chelsea 1 Stoke 0 (2-0)
Southampton 4 Villa 1 (2-1)
WBA 1 Reading 0 (2-1)
West Ham 1 Sunderland 1 (1-1)
Wigan 1 Fulham 2 (1-2)
Newcastle 1 Norwich 0 (2-0)
Man City 1 Arsenal (1-1)
Tottenham 2 QPR 1 (2-1)
Liverpool 1 Man Utd 2 (1-1)

For Game Week 6, it gets more interesting, here are the matches.

Arsenal v Chelsea - Arsenal actually dominated Man City especially in the first half while Chelsea laboured for a win over Stoke. Arsenal has got something special happening this season and can take on Chelsea with confidence now that their bogeyman Didier Drogba is gone. Eden Hazard was an Arsenal target before he joined Chelsea. Would he regret his decision after this match? But Chelsea just had an emphatic 6-0 routing of Wolves in the Cup. So too the Gunners' 6-1 win over Coventry. But this is a London derby and the weekend's biggest match. It is an important match for both teams to gauge their strength. 1-1.

Everton v Southampton - Didn't I tell you many times that David Moyes is a great coach? Everton trounced Swansea 3-0 away but they have just slumped to an away 1-2 defeat by Leeds in the League Cup. I have boldly predicted a Saints win over Aston Villa but could not imagine a 4-1 margin. Everton does go up and down but seems quite unbeatable at Goodison Park. The Saints look in good shape but an away trip here can be too much? 3-2.

Fulham v Man City - Fulham won a difficult match 2-1 away to Wigan, a very good result. Man City was fortunate to get a home draw with Arsenal and have just lost 4-2 to Villa in the League Cup. Granted there is less prestige here in this Cup but to loose 2-4 conceding 4 goals to a side that do not score much? Are there some problems of unhappiness or worst unrest at City and Mancini? City is suddenly having problems with their defence which was their forte. Craven Cottage is no easy place to visit but if you are the champions you have to show it. Tevez to score. 1-2.

Norwich v Liverpool - Liverpool played nicely and did everything right but win against a rather poor Man Utd. Liverpool lack a proper striker that scores regularly. They are right at the bottom and based on probability, they ought to win their next match which happens to be Norwich away. There is not a better time or match to start winning. The good news is Liverpool finally won a match beating WBA 2-1 away in the League Cup thus hopefully burying the ghosts that haunted them since the season's opener against WBA. You will never walk alone but if you do not start winning, how to walk with the rest? If you are golfing, everyone wants to play you now. 1-2.

Reading v Newcastle - Reading is not a team that can be bashed and the Magpies is not the same team as last season, they seemed to have lost some conviction. Playing away to QPR in the League Cup Reading returned with a 3-2 win while the Magpies lost 1-2 to the Red Devils in the same Cup tie. Only good news is Papiss Cisse has started to score again. 2-2.

Stoke v Swansea - Stoke nearly did their trick at Stamford Bridge while Swansea failed to make any headway at home to Everton and lost. The exuberance of the early season flying start has simmered down. Back to life, back to reality. Stoke is a master of drawing a match. They have drawn every match except the recent loss to Chelsea. Nothing could be more contrasting in a match than this. The physical style of Stoke versus the sweet passing of Swansea. Swansea impressive first two wins did not last as they drew one and lost two matches on the trot. The wind was taken out of the sail. I think the uglier team will win. 2-1

Sunderland v Wigan - Sunderland is tough as nails and though Wigan lost at home to a resurgent Fulham they came back with an away 4-1 thrashing of West Ham in the Cup. Sunderland has not won and remains unbeaten, an even more superior draw specialist than Stoke. This could be their first win. 1-0.

Man Utd v Tottenham - The Lucky Devils as I would like to call the Red Devils sometimes was well rather lucky at Anfield. There are quarters arguing if Glen Johnson's challenge was indeed legitimate on Valencia. Why is Johnson playing at left back? His tackle was on the wrong side and adjudged to have fouled Valencia. Tottenham can match anyone on their day. Defoe is scoring for fun again. Bale is back to his exhilarating best. It is a good test for both sides to see if they are really back and hanging in there. 2-1.

Villa v WBA - Villa was lame and got a sound spanking by Southampton but they returned that favour and pounded misery on Man City with a 4-2 win in the Cup. Villa is in with a bit of form but WBA is a hard nut to crack and at Villa's current level, a draw may be more likely. 1-1.

QPR v West Ham - QPR actually played one of their best games against Tottenham but lost narrowly in the derby. The Hammers were lucky to equalised against Sunderland at Upton Park but just got pounded 4-1 by Wigan at home in the Cup. Surely QPR should win this London derby if they play the way they did last week. 2-1.

Have a happy EPL weekend!
