EPL Game Week 7

I watched the Malaysia Cup 2nd leg quarter-final between Singapore and Pahang and that is the way Singapore should play. Especially interesting was the fact I saw glimpses of Fandi Ahmad in Shahril Ishak whose brace of headed goals saw Singapore through. Like Fandi, Shahril is not fast but has great skill, composure and is clever. He is Singapore's most important player. If you look over to Spain, champions Real Madrid is languishing having already lost two matches. The EPL is going through changes. Game Week 6's actual scores are below with my predictions in bracket ( ). Arsenal 1 Chelsea 2 (1-1) Everton 3 Southampton 1 (3-2) Fulham 1 Man City 2 (1-2) Norwich 2 Liverpool 5 (1-2) Reading 2 Newcastle 2 (2-2) Stoke 2 Swansea 0 (2-1) Sunderland 1 Wigan 0 (1-0) Man Utd 2 Tottenham 3 (2-1) Villa 1 WBA 1 (1-1) QPR 1 West Ham 2 (2-1) So I have gotten 7 out of 10 correct in WxDxL including 4 perfect score prediction. My form is better than some of the EPL teams like L

Lower Seletar Reservoir

I drove past the place many a times but never notice nor observe the rich history of the place. So this time I decided to check it out by going there to take a long walk, to fish and to soak in the vibes. There is a small carpark here that could take in may be twenty vehicles. There was a stream of visitors coming and going and the first sight that greeted us was this. It was scenic and picturesque. Coconut trees tend to lend a relax and laid back atmosphere. You can take a slow walk to the end of the bridge.  OCC (Orchid Country Club) beckons. Par 3 - I have had numerous birdies here before. And its wavy coast stretched a long way to the dam. I was checking for who has disappeared from my radar as you can see (the radars). This bridge reveals the history of a great place.  It was somewhat hazy that day. You can see the vast expanse of the reservoir. The history went back to the 1400s "Ruler of S

Did You Go To The F1?

Image
Each morning when I get to work, I will turn into the F1 circuit via Nicoll Highway. It didn't make me feel like a F1 driver because the roads were normal and of course my car.  However, as the impending event on the global calendar unfolds a few weeks from the date, you can see the drama building up. Fences erected, crash barriers placed, you begin to see the actual circuit.  I was prepared to accept some inconvenience as there will be traffic jams each morning even when I left for work earlier due to road diversions. However, I could not comprehend why the LTA could not waive ERP charges or at least reduced them to a standard charge simply because we ended up having to pay when we usually don't or having to pay a dollar became two or three dollars. Having to pay more for the inconvenience caused to us is unheard of! On top of this, we even have to pay to get home everyday as there are no routes left to us as an option without having to pay ERP charges even when

What's Going On? Oh, Thief Of Hearts!

Some weeks back, I shared that I dropped my Blackberry into a bowl of porridge during dinner. Anyone ever tried Blackberry porridge before?  Last Sunday, over lunch at a market, I ordered pork meatball soup but the wobbly tray caused the bowl of hot soup  to slide and splashed onto me. Ouch! It was painful and the old lady who served was about to be scolded by the boss when I said "no worries, I am alright" and calmly went to my table then rushed off to a nearby tap to run water over my shirt and tummy. Fortunately the meatball was very good and when I got home I applied a thick layer of aloe vera over it.  Then I had a corn over a finger which had a slight tear and I wanted to ask the doctor for some cream which he did give to me. However, he advised that quite often, a corn could also be a wart which is a viral infection so he recommended laser treatment. The laser specialist doctor later said no laser because it is too close to the joint and there was a slig

Children's Day - Our Generation Gap

It fits my mind, it fits my soul, it fits my generation . Levi's used to have an advertisement and that was how the theme song went. I still do remember the tune. At the time, folks my age were children. Fast forward today, we are still children - adult children. We are all children of the world.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn8XdPgCZBQ  (Bee Gees) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIyzYyhcD7o  (Amy Grant) Generation We are of a different generation, y et all of us were born in different years marked by war, independence, industrial strife, depression, poverty, prosperity, epidemic diseases, rock and/or the hippie revolution, recession, etc. and we had some real growing up to do. Our behaviour, beliefs, influence and views are largely formed by the circumstances of our time - your life' s experience. Unless the elders updated themselves to understand what the youngsters are going through and doing today and the youngsters went back in time to discover the past from whe

Food Again, What Else?

Image
We always come back to food for it is one of life's common denominator - regardless of race, language or religion. Taj's is the place that served one of the best Fish Bryani in town but the fish bryani is only available on Friday. Go early or be disappointed. If not then ask for chicken or mutton if you like. This is one of the rare bryani that is not oily. Add some chicken for more delight. I have been eating here for ages, now someone has given them a recognition. I use d to have the laksa, the Sungei Road Laksa like twice a month at Kelantan Lane. Having stop for awhile, I had to go back. On a Saturday late morning, a long queue was forming but the service was quick. The owner whom I have seen when since I was a young child pushing his cart at Sungei Road is still at it. Where to find hawker using charcoal stove to cook? It makes the laksa piping hot from the start to your last spoonful when you slurp it up! The cockles are very fresh! Die
