Yummy Factor

You will find people doing all kinds of things in this world just so that they can catch your attention, make a name for themselves and be famous or to win some money. They keep the world's longest finger nails, jump from the tallest buildings, sleep with the most poisonous snakes. In Hokkien, we say "kah chua koon". On television you watch the Fear Factor and you get people eating a bowl of worms till they puke. Why do such things because someone throw money at you?

I look for other more dangerous things to do like eating. Do you know that whenever you eat and swallow, this little thing called an epiglottis, a flap at the base of your throat prevents food and liquid from getting into your airway and therefore, prevent you from choking to death. This happens all the time and every time. Some times you may choke a little because your epiglottis is not sure if you are talking or eating. So do not talk when eating. It is the same for golf when your hands is not sure what your brain is thinking so you choke. By revealing this little miracle that we take for granted do you think that we were created by God and this is a great design? Similarly we have two ears so that we can listen twice as much as we talk.

Back to dangerous stuffs like eating. You don't eat properly you can be in trouble. Eat too much and you will also be in trouble. Let me put you to the test in the face of temptation do you flee?

Bosses

You will find these pictures at the entrance of the Bosses Restaurant from Malaysia at Vivo City.

The crispy fish skins as appetizers.

There are many varieties in food selection but these salted egg buns are deadly. These are weapons of mass seduction. They should stick a warning sign on it because if you were greedy you may get your throat scorched. The salted egg custard inside which is piping hot will burst out like a volcano. You need skills to survive this. If you are careless it can go onto your clothes, other people's faces or drip splashed onto the table.

There you have it 黑 社 会。

Mapo Tofu is such a delightful dish for all occasions. I found this on the menu of a Japanese restaurant. Can't remember, was it Ajisen?

East Ocean

This is a good restaurant for dim sum and other dishes.

They have the salted-egg custard bun too. This will make your heart communicate faster with your head through a rush of blood.

The ever delicious soup.

Seafood Paradise

You must know this one originally helm by the owner himself Mr. Eldwin Chua at Defu with their signature creamy-butter crab. Crabs are so expensive. Why? They are not that fast and not too difficult to catch?

Do not judge an eating place by its queue. Long queue could be due to slowness or lacking in productivity. Judge it by looking at how the plates and bowls were cleaned up not by the waiters or waitresses but by customers.

Everybody loves to yum cha in Cantonese to drink tea. People are basically gluttons so when they drink tea they needed something to go with the tea. Something to munch and they started to add more until it became a long list of food but the tea remains the tea. They still say yum cha but actually it is all about eating then a little tea to wash down. This Yum Cha restaurant in Chinatown is special and the many times that I brought foreign guests there they love not just the food but they like the real atmosphere and ambient where it is noisy and the sound of dim sum trolleys going over the wooden planks. This is how Chinatown should be like. Authentic setting. Make sure you try the glutinous rice.

Yum Cha
I'll let you into a secret. Dip your char siew pao with chilli.

The typical soup in a dumpling is delicious!!

There you have it.

Crystal Jade
The original recipe of the spicy beef ramen is no longer available which explained my absence for awhile. Crystal Jade makes the best ramen and XLP (xiao long pao) and they do have very good consistency for all their restaurants. Savour their sweet and sour fish.

Spicy chili oil noodle. I still missed the old version.

 PuTien

Putian is a coastal province in Fujian, China. MM Lee mentioned that the owner invited him to his restaurant before. I have been to PuTien several times but for different food usually at Tampines. This one at Nex was impressive. Besides the sprawling space, the Heng Hwa food they dished out is first class.

I am never bitter so I can't get along with bitter gourd. A few places may offer bitter gourd that does not taste bitter but you must absolutely try this bitter gourd without fail. Out of this world. So good I should eat it everyday!

Every dish that we ordered and that were rolled out were delicious.

Does not matter if they were vegetables or tofu.

The original shop was at Kitchener. If you have not done Putien your knowledge of Chinese food is not complete. How come my Heng Hwa friends never buy me dinner?

I used to have pigeon soup in bamboo tube at Charming Gardens which was fabulous. Oops! Wrong picture.

Gluttons of the world unite!

Or crab vermicelli.
