F1 - Post Mortem

Friends who were at the race were mesmerised by the sight, the sound of roaring engines, the smell of burning rubber on asphalt, the carnival atmosphere and especially at the first turn.
But no matter how well organised it was, we were not perfect and others like Abu Dhabi, South Korea, China, Japan and India would do more to emulate this occasion.
Although it was a great success by any standard, Ferrari chief Luca di Montezemolo has much to gripe about - from insufficient overtaking opportunities to the bumpy road condition.
He does have a point and I am sure the organisers would act on it but to call this a "circus" throws up something else.
If you were a bowler, you will know that not all lanes in competition feels the same.
If you were into soccer, some away venues have bumpy pitches and if you are a team like Arsenal that plays with fluid movement and slick passing you will have some difficulties while a golfer faces a different terrain, weather and wind condition each time.
The finest and best athletes and sportsmen must therefore, adjust to the conditions of the day to be a champion, skills and experience aside. Ferrari has fanatical fan support and great cars but their performance for the night was inept with that howler in the pit.
However, I like Felipe Massa's attitude for refusing to blame his pit crew. If this is his magnanimity, he is a great man.
Having witnessed that embarassing Massa moment, I am more careful these days at the pumps. I wasn't watching the hose line but the soaring pump prices.
