EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 32

It was Chelsea from the start and still Chelsea now with even greater clarity. It is down to one thing - consistency. Seven points clear with a game in hand and seven matches left. It is their title to throw away. Arsenal have roared back and is the most in-form team and deservedly second.

Man Utd were somehow getting the right results and looked more exciting recently. For their noisy neighbour City's title fight may be over. Instead of the title they are looking at European qualification as Arsenal and Utd close in. Last week saw Rooney scored a great goal but the one that Charlie Adams scored was even more sensational! Liverpool and Tottenham were completely dismal.

(Charlie Adams'sensational goal):

Swansea v Everton - If you look at both sides, you must agree that Gary Monk has done a great job at Swansea! Give him a pay rise. Everton are getting back but a bit too late. Swansea has never beaten Everton in a league match. Everton lost none and won 13 out of 19 matches. Both teams are meeting now after two consecutive wins away and home. Will Swansea make their own history? Draw. 1-1.

Southampton v Hull - The Saints have tamed the Tigers and lost none and won seven matches when Hull visited twelve times. History favours Southampton very strongly where the last five times they met were 100% wins for the Saints. There is no current indication that Hull could improve on that. 2-0.

Sunderland v Palace - Have the Black Cat's nine lives been used up? They have just gave themselves a fighting chance hauling themselves to 15th place with the narrow win over Newcastle. Was it a result of the magic of Dick Advocaat? Jermaine Defoe's goal was magic. Watch - (Sunderland v Newcastle):

Now see how Palace dealt a cruel blow to City's title hope and did a big favour for Chelsea. To beat City was an even greater achievement. Palace have been on song - winning away against West Ham and Stoke then home against QPR and City. They are on song. A Palace win as they are hot. 1-2.

(Crystal Palace v Man City):

Tottenham v Villa - This tie favours Tottenham as they have won all their previous five encounters scoring a minimum of two goals against Villa. Villa only scored against Tottenham once every two games and never scored more than a goal each time but there could be a little twist here if Villa can return to winning ways. They won three on the trot only to have lost twice. Tottenham looked strangely subdue when they played Burnley at Turf Moor. Have they burnt out before the season is over? Tottenham shall prevail at White Hart Lane and Harry Kane shall score again. 2-0.

WBA v Leicester - The Baggies actually had beaten Stoke (good job), lost to Man City (expected) but then promptly got thrashed by QPR (1-4) at home. Meantime, the Foxes finally know how to win. On current form Leicester have a chance but they did not fare well previously when they play WBA. From 15th place Sunderland downwards, nobody is safe. Every match is a cup final. Away win may I venture. 1-2.

West Ham v  Stoke - Both teams are level at 42 points and both are suffering poorer form now. Stoke won three of their last six meets. It shall be a physical game with not too many chances and probably end in a stalemate. 1-1.

Burnley v Arsenal - Burnley can be tough at home in Turf Moor. Just ask Man City and Tottenham. City lost 1-0 and Tottenham escaped with a 0-0 draw. Will the Gunners fall into this trap? Arsenal have been known in the past for faltering against the big teams and the smaller teams but the last time Burnley had Arsenal beaten was in 2008! They let Arsenal banged in 10 goals in their last four. Arsenal are in the form of their lives and had this superb run come earlier they could have been champions or giving Chelsea a run for the money. They were just so clinical against Liverpool last week. The Gunners to take all points. 0-2.

QPR v Chelsea - The bottom three team versus the number one top team but hey this is a London Derby. Chelsea are still winning but by smaller in fact by the slimmest margin. QPR are undergoing a minor resurgent with Chris Ramsey onboard and he seemed to have succeeded in not only stamping the rot but they have been unbeaten in their last two matches - first an impressive 4-1 away win over WBA and 3-3 draw away to Villa. They are scoring - seven goals in two matches. Charlie Austin is likely to score and Chelsea will lose the service of their top scorer Diego Costa. Do note that QPR has kept three clean sheets in their last three home matches against Chelsea. They may actually cause a surprise. It could be 1-1 but I think Chelsea may just nick it. 1-2.

(Chelsea v Stoke):

Man Utd v Man City - Certainly the match of the week! The red side of Manchester are in better form right now. Fellaini, Herrera and Rooney are n fine form. City have lost their last three away matches. In the last five meetings between both sides, Utd won once and City won four. There were no draw. Will be their first draw in since a long time ago? Will City drop further or will they bounce back? If they lost to Palace away how can they win at Old Trafford? Yes they can as they have done before. 1-2.

(Man Utd v Villa):

Liverpool v Newcastle - Liverpool were doing so well then suddenly became dismal and lost their last two matches. I put it down to Raheem Sterling whose holding out for more money by his greedy agent has caused distraction. At 20,  having his weekly wages increased from 35,000 pounds to 100,000 pounds per week is not enough. Reason: his desire to win trophies. If I were Rodgers, I would drop him without hesitation. No one is bigger than the club or the company. Those who think they are too big can always leave. Alberto Moreno was a nervous wreck against Man Utd and caught by Arsenal a few times. Toure seemed rusty and Liverpool defenders were testing even their own goalkeeper by playing back passed in awkward situation to Mignolet. What were they thinking? Why was Jordan Henderson on the right? Brendan Rodgers was the darling last season. Will he be again this season? Two factors stand firmly in their favour. They are playing at home and Newcastle are in terrible form with four losses out of four matches and only scored once in their last five matches. Home win. 2-0.
