Return To Ubin - Part 2

Continued from Part 1:

I love the life of police officers here. More laid back, less complicated. Certainly more peaceful as people are less stressed.

A provision shop here stocked up lots of cold drinks. I spoke to the owner who is living in Singapore but came back to help his family business.

Ubin is not at all drab. On the contrary, it is a colourful place.

You can learn kayaking or canoeing here. What colour do you like?

They even have a dog that looks like a cow. Is that a hybrid?

No feeding of wild animals. So do behave yourself when you are eating here, otherwise you won't be fed.

On a hot day and visitng a few place one can get tired so we hired Uncle Moh to take us around to Chek Jawa and a quarry.

We first visited this old Tudor styled house which is now the Chek Jawa visitor centre.

A mural on the main wall depicted some of the wild life you could find here. Rich marine life.

I could throw a party at the courtyard every weekend if it were mine.

A jetty stretched right out far away out to sea.

Surrounded by rocky outcrop to the right.

And to the left.

One could daydream here throughout the day.

Isn't wonderful how it looks from the sea?

It is also romantic.

The sound of water crashing onto the rocks is therapeutic. Or maybe carved them rocks out to be a half Mermaid half boar and call it the Merboar.

A plane flew by every now and then. Later, I missed a great shot of a plane landing at Changi while an ocean liner was passing by where the plane was exactly on top of that  vessel.

This spot makes a perfect "lepak" corner. We need to find a new balance in life.

Unfortunately, this place is not for sale. I mean - fortunately.

Can these be made into Chuka Wakame?

I just think the islanders should live a peaceful, healthier and longer life far from the madding crowd compared to city folks.

We did some trekking.

Look out for any interesting stuffs.

We walked that Chek Jawa bridge and came across groups pf students and other types of groups on excursion.

The sun and the sea is always so glorious. Till kingdom comes.

Some day I am going to put a message "SOS!" in a bottle and throw it out to sea address to whoever may find it. Listen to one of my fave singers, Sting performing:

..and the magical voice of Chyi:

Outdoor and sea activities aplenty.

There are good size fish here as this dead one suggested.

Been here, done that and shall be coming again.

Barnacles are all over the rocks.

They are sharp and abrasive. Be careful as they can tear you up.

I woke up realising that it was all a dream about owning that house. Or I would surely invite you all over. If I could, I surely would.

The call of the wild is irresistible. It is the wildest love;

What does El Condor Pasa means? It means the Condor is flying. The Condor is the largest bird and they can travel a long distance.
The song is really about freedom. In life, we can wish for many things. There are limitations and in another sense there are no limitations. You may strive forever but no one can have it all. Just what do you value most? What are your treasures? So it shall be.
