Return To Shin Minori

The best Japanese food are flown in fresh on certain days of the week, the fishes fly business class and if you know the chefs, have wads of cash endlessly, you can then go enjoy yourselves. So how about buffets and in this case Japanese buffets or for that matter, any other food?

I do not eat much so it is the variety and choice that is kind of convenient. So after awhile, I have to return to Shin Minori. You get to check the quality and know if the food is consistent. You should do that to all the food places. I wrote an article during my first visit there (please see link) and have since visited with family, friends and colleagues fairly regularly.

We sat near the window well decorated for Christmas. Just go through the list - Sashimi, Tempura, Sushi, whatever. Check out the serving size and then tick in the appropriate boxes and the food will be served to you. If you want more of it again later, just repeat.

Of course we have to have sashimi first. Maguro (tuna), Shake (salmon), Tai (snapper), Hamachi (yellow tail) and Mekajiki (swordfish).

Sashimi is just so awesome to look at and partake in eating. Shin Minori's portion served are generous and very fresh. Definitely one of the better ones out there. One up here.

Just enough wasabe.

Decor and ambient cannot be eaten but it can enhance the situation. Here it is very presentable but what I like is that it is spacious. Another point scored.

This was just a deep fried fish that landed on my plate from a family member. I do not know what it was or called but it was good.

The beef was tender with a light sauce. Yummy.

Miso soup is simple, nutritious and delicious.

Tempura!!

Soba with beef can be filling but the serving here is small. Some of us just love noodles so rounding off a meal with a small bowl was just the thing to do.

I asked for saba grilled with salt. Maybe I should have gotten the one with teriyaki as it was a little dry.

This one was complimentary and not from the menu. There was unagi and avocado. Very nice.

How not to have another round of sashimi. This time without tai (snapper) which I do not really fancy. Just maguro, shake, hamachi and mekajiki.

Hamachi - the Japanese will swear by this fish.

Mekajiki. The swordfish is so full of oil. All the fish in Japanese are so oily and hearty but I suspect the swordfish is one of the most loaded.

And we also always love the salmon. The bears can't be wrong. Look how big and strong they are!

The bean sprout was actually half raw which is the correct way to eat them.

The cabbage was light and crunchy.

Another round of compliments. The salmon was oh so tender and well grilled. Nice sushi!

You don't normally need rice at a buffet but I haven't had the Japanese garlic fried rice for sometime so a small bowl did no harm.

And finally sayonara till we meet again.

What a hearty meal for the family! What is good at Shin Minori as compared to other Japanese buffet is that they have the plus points in ambience, decor and spaciousness. They have very good sashimi. They are at a decently more central location but they didn't offer a choice of sukiyaki, shabu-shabu or dessert but still I think it was worth it. Let's go again.
