One Night In Bangkok - Part Two

Continued.....from Part 1:

Well if you have started with shark's fins then you should end properly with bird's nest. We didn't do it at the restaurant but my friend recommended a stall outside which was equally good but much cheaper.

It was a great dessert indeed! Where can we find this back home?

It was raining each evening/night. It shouldn't be at this time of the year in Bangkok. When we sat down for our bird's nest it was still drizzling. So I wanted a hot one. The quality was really quite good and it tasted heavenly. Would a second helping be too much?

We wandered for awhile for this is Chinatown. Just look at the delicacies on display. It was bustling.

Yaowarat. That's happening.

We found our mojos.

We have to go back to the office. Life is tough, the pace brutal.

Yes the office.

Thank you Aloysius! The evening after a hard day's work.....
Old and new friends from Asia United. From Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines,   Singapore.

We went to this very popular restaurant. Probably at least three levels and teeming with people all evening and it was a Monday night. Plus it was raining. Frequently, there were people waiting their turns at the holding area. Wow!

We of course started with tom yum. Excellent and refreshing as it perks you up.

Then came the fish served in a fish-shaped metal plate burning hot. I could not see the fish so I didn't really know what the fish but the soup, vegetables and condiments were good.

Fried "tang hoon" or crystal vermicelli.

Now this is the most interesting. I have always said when eating chilli crab that the restaurants should crack and peel all the shells so that all diners have to do is to just eat it! Well, in Singapore you golf without a caddy. It's um...may I borrow a phrase DIY. Heck, they can even offer you a bib to wear around from your neck to protect spillage dirtying your clothes at our local restaurants.

You do not need bibs here. The crab meat are without shells!! This is delicious and not having to fight with crabs made it a double delight. It has lots of eggs gone into it. Just pour into your rice and you go delirious.

This is the "Somboon Seafood Restaurant".

After that what do you do at night while in Bangkok except doing some naughty things right? Yup, that's what we did. Pool. Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines were really good.

With that we renewed our friendship and kept warm ties with the people of many countries and brought back fond memories of another chapter in life. Another time, another place. I am leaving on a jet plane.

One last hit - as this airport stall proclaimed they won an award for best phad thai.

And my beloved Black Canyon Coffee.

Kop khun krap. See you again!
