EPL Game Week 26

Tottenham v Newcastle - After going four matches without a win, Tottenham must feel more confident after that away 1-0 win over WBA with that super goal from Gareth Bale. Newcastle won only once and drew twice in their home game with Spurs and have a poor record at White Hart Lane having lost 2-0 and 5-0. Do not write off the Magpies who after not having won for six matches bounced back with a French revolution winning two in a row and their thrilling 3-2 win over Chelsea must be a huge morale booster and are surely on the road to recovery. In their last drawn match it was 2-2. I say draw at 2-2.

Chelsea v Wigan - Chelsea have not on in four matches. That was an alarming decline losing precious points. It may be good for Chelsea that they are facing a Wigan also in alarming decline having not won for more than eight matches they may have forgotten how to win. Wigan's record against Chelsea have been rather poor having lost all but one match which they drew. It is surely a must-win for the home side. 2-0.

Norwich v Fulham - The Canaries have been in rapid decline. They were very good yet have now sunken without a win in at least eight matches. Fulham are just slightly better and have a better record against the home team. Both are somewhat languishing and need to invigorate themselves without sinking further down. It could be a draw. 1-1.

Stoke v Reading - Stoke, like Wigan and Norwich have not won in eight matches. Their early season stoutness has disappeared. Their draw specialist tag is gone and they could not even win at home. Reading on the other hand have won five out of six matches the other being a draw Chelsea. Their top scorer Adam Le Fondre has amassed 14 goals thus far. They have been in good form. Although a draw might be likely, I'll go for a Reading win! They are scoring an average 2.6 goals in their last five matches. 1-2.

Sunderland v Arsenal - The Black Cats seemed to be taking turns to win/draw and loose. The Gunners remained unbeaten four times now and they knew how to beat Stoke! In previous encounters they have drawn twice at 0-0. Stoke won once and Arsenal twice never once exceeding three goals (2-1). Unless Arsenal go back to their old ways they should win this one. 1-2.

Swansea v QPR - Swansea are a good side but they drew 0-0 away to Sunderland and then lost 0-1 away to the Hammers. QPR cannot be faulted in their last five matches. After beating Chelsea 1-0, they drew their next four matches but drawing is not enough they need to get more three pointers to clinch their place above the danger zone. Their past records were equal each having won once and drew one. Swansea have home advantage but QPR's struggle continues and should have even more urgency. Swansea for all their pretty football can be rattled as West Ham have proven. A draw here. If QPR can hold Man City, they could to the same to Swansea. 1-1.

Southampton v Man City - The bad news for City is that the Saints have been "Marching In". In seven matches they won one and lost one and drew the rest. City were held 0-0 then 2-2 by QPR and Liverpool respectively. They were fortunate to have salvaged a point against Liverpool but it must be considered 4 points lost rather than 2 points gained if they stare up the ladder to see Utd there with a clear lead. In their only meeting in the past, City struggled to beat Southampton 3-2. Southampton have scored in most games and could cause trouble to City but I pick City to prevail. 1-2.

Villa v West Ham - Villa have been inching towards trouble. Villa Park was once the home ground of the English League and European Champions. They are now a far cry from those halcyon days. The visitors are boosted by their 1-0 win over Swansea. They have previously drawn once and won two each never exceeding 3 goals each time. The Hammers are slightly better but Villa will be at home. I say draw. 1-1.

Man Utd v Everton - Utd have not lost for a long time. If any team can cause an upset, it would be Everton. In five previous encounters, they drew twice, Utd won twice and Everton once. When the played to draw games, the scores were 3-3 and 4-4 while each win were all 1-0 affairs. David Moyes and his team have been truly magnificent. A draw at 2-2.

Liverpool v WBA - Liverpool have made some serious great strides recently. They have shown they are up to par with the likes of Arsenal and Man City in both 2-2 draws, matches they should have won. WBA have fizzled after a bright start and have drawn one and lost five matches. If Liverpool do not win this one, they will have to go back to the drawing board again. But somehow their past history was 3-2 in favours of WBA. To hell with history, no one can live based on their past glory but on current form it has to be Liverpool. WBA could score against weaker teams but do not score against better opposition. 2-0.
