EPL Game Week 8

Can you believe it? Kazakhstan had someone who visited my blog and they are the 115th country to have done so. The previous week's EPL matches revealed some tantalising features from various teams. How did my prediction went the last time (in brackets)? I had 6 WxDxL including 2 perfect scores.

Swansea 2 Reading 2 (2-1)
WBA 3 QPR 2 (2-1)
Wigan 2 Everton 2 (1-2)
West Ham 1 Arsenal 3 (1-3)
Southampton 2 Fulham 2 (2-2)
Liverpool 0 Stoke 0 (2-1)

He is now going to be "seriously banned from driving for two weeks"! Right here, may be two years or more? To do it, you will have to get a Porsche at least.

Game Week 8

Tottenham v Chelsea - AVB has finally been vindicated and will soon face the club that sacked him at White Hart Lane. The problem with Tottenham is that they can be scintillating, playing attractive attacking soccer at great speed and yet in a moment can be ordinary as they took sometime to overcome Villa. What they didn't have is consistency. Meanwhile Chelsea looked invincible at the moment despite the troubles with Terry and Cole. Other than Arsenal, this will be a great London derby. Lampard, Torres, Hazard, Mata and Ivanovic have been on song but Spurs wingers Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon will give Cole and Ivanovic a torrid time. This will be the best match of the week. In their last five meetings, they have drawn 1-1 three times with Chelsea winning twice. Chelsea could win this one but with Spurs showing new confidence and playing at home they could also draw. 1-1.

Fulham v Aston Villa - Fulham has been quite impressive so far even without Clint Dempsey while Villa has been struggling. What chance is there for Villa at Craven Cottage? But the Fulham defence did look shaky at times at Southampton but they should outscore Villa. 2-1.

Liverpool v Reading - Liverpool is not getting the results. Not only that, they are getting harder to watch too. They are no longer expected to win even when playing against the minnows. Other than Suarez or Gerrard, the usual suspects, who is there to create or score. They now looked so laborious in every match. If you think that Reading is easy you are wrong. They scored almost against every team and even put two past Chelsea and have even won away. Possession is no use if it cannot translate into goals. Liverpool can win this with a bit of confidence which at the moment they do not have. Another laborious draw on the cards perhaps? They do not have someone who puts the ball in the net regularly. Worse, now dodgy goalie Reina is injured leaving them without front and back. Murphy's law is at work here. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. YNWA (You'll Never Walk Alone). After watching them, you might just be drinking alone, drinking away the blues. 1-1.

Man Utd v Stoke - United played their best match of the season winning 3-0 at St. James Park thus avenging their 0-3 loss the previous season. Their weak defence not only kept a clean sheet they actually went up to score with Johnny Evan's thumping header, Patrice Evra's bullet header and finally Tom Cleverly's impressive lobbed shot that went in the far corner. Partly, Newcastle was subdued going down 2-0 in less than 15 minutes making things difficult for themselves. Steve Harper looked shaky on many occasions. Stoke has been unbeaten since losing to Chelsea narrowly. They should put in some resistance. 2-1.

Swansea v Wigan - Swansea showed fighting spirit coming back to draw Reading while Wigan actually troubled Everton. Problem is Swansea for all the beautiful passing seems to lack steel. Home advantage should be good for the Swans but their record against Wigan are level but both sides can score. Draw. 2-2.

WBA v Man City - WBA is a strong and good team especially at home at the Hawthorns. However, City has just shown how they it can be done with a 3-0 trouncing of Sunderland also keeping a clean sheet. The Baggies will find things hard with City back in form. With Joe Hart in superb form, City should ace this. 0-2.

West Ham v Southampton - West Ham had no chance against Arsenal even with an early lead. Southampton was even funny when their centre-back Fonte scored two goals against Fulham and was their hero while his partner Hooiveld did a Lim Tong Hai conceding two own goals. They did everything between them which was comical. But they did dominate early on. Watch Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll. A win at Upton park? 2-1.

Norwich v Arsenal - You must feel for the Canaries. They have been losing narrowly or drawing at best till they met Liverpool, an unlikely candidate due to their dismal form to inflict damage and they went down 2-5. All hell broke loose thereafter as they crashed 1-4 to Chelsea and now from the frying pan into the fire as they face off with Arsenal who just won 3-1 at Upton Park.  I do not think that Norwich is tougher than West Ham and there is little advantage playing at home to a superior side. Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski and Oliver Giroud  are due a goal and maybe Jack Wilshere will be back. 1-3.

Sunderland v Newcastle - When Sunderland crashed 0-3 to Man City, it was an unusual occurrence. Plus this is now a local derby. The Magpies were unfortunate when they met Man Utd in top gear and were surprisingly lacklustre and sloppy when they conceded two goals in the first 15 minutes but they did come back a bit to pound Man Utd and the complexion and final result could have been different when Demba Ba hit the crossbar and Papiss Cisse head-butted the ball home from up close only for De Gea to parry the ball which looked to have gone in and over the line. Look carefully and notice that both side weres undefeated until they crashed to both Manchester sides by similar 3-0. A draw seems written all over this one. 1-1.

QPR v Everton - Mark Hughes looks like flying home on Air Asia anytime soon as rumours mounted that Harry Redknapp may be his replacement after having so much moolas and yet getting such poor results. Meanwhile, poor man's Everton has been working miracles under David Moyes. It is possible that Maruone Fellaini and Mikica Jelavic could score. Loftus Road does not intimidate but they do have goal scorers. 1-2.

Have a great EPL weekend!
