EPL Game Week 24
In the Year of the Dragon, I shall be making all Asians and Singaporeans proud as I embark on an adventure and a once in a lifetime chance to answer that call to pursue a passion and never work another day! As I break the news to you, I hope you will be proud of me.
Arsenal v Blackburn - After that pulsating come from behind 3-2 win over Villa after trailing 0-2 in the FA Cup, you would have thought that the Gunners have finally turned the corner. Maybe they were tired. Arsenal came crashing to earth when they were held to an away goalless draw at Bolton. They are just like my golf game, brilliant one moment and like a novice next. I fear for Arsene Wenger and will they get to fourth place? Blackburn lost 0-2 to Newcastle at home so if Arsenal do not win or hammer Blackburn at the Emirates, who is there to blame? Blackburn had beaten Fulham, held Everton and lost to Newcastle. I feel nervous predicting Arsenal results. They like to concede a goal first then come back. 3-1.
Norwich v Bolton - Norwich was surprisingly and soundly trounced 3-0 by Sunderland. Surely they need a result at home now. Bolton is enjoying a resurgence having beaten Liverpool 3-1 they follow up with 2-1 FA Cup win over Swansea and holding Arsenal 0-0. Expecting them to win at Norwich may be a tall order. 1-1. Norwich's Morison is due a goal.
QPR v Wolves - QPR has improved under Mark Hughes when and former Liverpool forward Djibril Cisse repaid them immediately with a goal in their 2-2 away draw to Villa while Wolves has lost their last 3 games the last being that 0-3 hammering by Liverpool. QPR has take advantage of the home game. 2-1.
Stoke v Sunderland - Stoke was abysmal going down 0-2 to Man U while Sunderland is on a row since O'Neill took over. Their striker Frazier Campbell and midfielder Stephane Sessegnon were hot! Stoke can sometimes play badly and bounce back to surprise the next game but Sunderland is in red hot form and their confidence has been soaring. 1-2.
WBA v Swansea - Swansea's beautiful game will meet with strong resistance. WBA is equally capable of wining/drawing or losing and so does Swansea. 2-2.
Wigan v Everton - Wigan lost 5 matches straight. Everton has not lost since that 0-2 defeat by Tottenham including a 2-1 and 1-0 win over Fulham and Man City respectively. A recovering Everton to ace this one. 1-2.
Man City v Fulham - After their breathtaking start, Man City has lost 4 matches, drew 1 and won 3. Knocked out of Europe, KO by Man U in the FA Cup and then KO by Liverpool in the CCup. Mancini's job may not be so safe after all. Fulham themselves has been quite poor since that solid 5-2 thrashing of Newcastle. This shows that being a top athlete, top soccer club, top golfer or top anything is not such an easy thing to do after all. The key is consistency. 3-1.
Newcastle v Villa - Newcastle is enjoying themselves at the moment being placed in a position never thought possible. Villa can win a match in every three but this is away to the Magpies at St. James Park and Newcastle's win rate is higher this season plus Demba Ba is back after Senegal went out in a shocked exit in the African Nations Championship. He may not be fielded in this game though. The Toon Army has a stable and dependable team now. It will be an interesting game as Villa has shown Arsenal in the FA Cup that they can score away goals. 2-1.
Chelsea v Man Utd - This one is massive but Chelski has lost its aura of invincibility as their record of 2/3/1 of W/D/L has shown. They scrambled to 1-0 wins at best and though they should be better at Stamford Bridge, Man Utd is playing well. Now Fernando Torres is left alone as Andy Carroll has scored for Liverpool. Chelsea plays a different game from the Liverpool side that Torres was in under Benitez. Not everybody benefits from a change. 1-1.
Can you hear the drums Fernando?
Liverpool v Tottenham - Liverpool has beaten the Mancunian teams both blue and red and dumped them out of the Cups. Brilliant and they have just thumped Wolves 3-0 away with Andy Carroll coming good. Tottenham was in superb form when they hit Wigan 3 to 1 with Gareth Bale scoring a brace and Luka Modric adding one. This will be the greater and more interesting match to watch. Spurs may surprise Liverpool with their speedy and flying wingers. Wingers are a sight to behold so watch them go at the Liverpool defence. They both deserve to win so it will be close but I reckon a draw as it is played at Anfield though they have been poor at home this season. Watch Spurs fullbacks Kyle Walker, Assou-Ekotto, Van Der Vaart, Scott Parker, Aaron Lennon and Adebayor. Of course Bale and Modric. 2-2.
