Makan Jiang Nan Style

We all love food. From Western to Eastern. Northern or Southern. Even if it were cuisines from the same country, North and South can be different not just for food but for the people. Only in Singapore, everywhere is the same. If all the world is a stage as William Shakespeare suggested then Singapore is a world stage of food. We are so spoilt for choices and variety, you should all really thank God to be here. Add superb convenience to that.

We headed for Vivo City (please note Vivo City is not a football club from the EPL) and we did the Jiang Nan style.

Colourful  Xiao Long Bao representing the different flavours. Lovely. If there are better XLB, I haven't found them.

Wonderful appetisers - pork, silver fish (it is a fish not that insect that eats your books and you wish you have many so they eat away your books and you won't need to study) and shoots.

I didn't know that shoots can taste this good! Pandas are smart animals. A panda walked into a Bar and ordered some food and a drink and it sat flanked by two men having a beer. When the panda has finished, it stood up, pulled out a pistol and shot the guy to his right and left in a hurry. The other man asked the bar tender why it did that. The Bar-tender replied: "It is a panda. A panda eats shoots and leaves! Duh."

This is a simple chicken and wanton soup. The soup is not wanton, the "wanton" are just shrimp dumplings. Very tasty soup.

The "Soon Hock" is such a great fish. I used to catch them with hand lines at fishing ponds and is the equivalent to groupers of the sea. Well, you can say they are fresh water groupers. It is the only fresh water fish that not only do not have a fishy or mud taste, it is actually very succulent and sweet. I can have one by myself.

After this dish was served, I imagined Porky Pig on a wheel chair being whisked away. I know many of you love animals because they are so tasty. Just look at that. Glazed.

Now in consumption mode.

Something new here were the slices of pineapples with the prawns.

Prawns have some good cholestorol do you know that? No fish prawn boleh lah we used to hear people say.

Good wok hei fried rice.

In life, there are things that we love or loathe. This is one of them. Longan in almond pudding with mint.

The combination of the almond and mint may not be to everyone's taste but some people will love it.

I thank my sponsors who are family members on this special occasion. You think I have free meal ah?!

Oops oops oops makan Jiang Nan style!
