EPL Game Week 4

A lot has happened at the last minute before the transfer window closed. Bale has gone to Madrid and Fellaini is now a Red Devil while Leighton Baines stayed put. The biggest news must be the Gunner's or rather Arsene Wenger's capture of Mesut Ozil. Ozil first caught my eye when he played for Germany in the European Championship and the World Cup. There is currently no better player than him in the world when it comes to creating chances. Ask Cristiano Ronaldo. You can say that Ronaldo is so good that he puts away Ozil's creation or was it because of Ozil's gilt edge chances created that Ronaldo puts them away? However, what most clubs missed was the opportunity to sign the world's best soccer masseur. He not only save a goal but actually made a double save then he had the time to pick up his stuffs and ran for dear life, was like an Olympic hurdler, ran so successfully he could do countless touch downs for rugby.  Watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjPXJG...

Epicurus

Like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, Epicurus was an ancient  Greek philosopher who founded a school of philosophy called Epicureanism. This is not the same as epidural which in ancient Greek means on/upon dura mater. It is a regional anesthesia resulting from an injection into the epidural space of the spinal cord; sensation is then lost in the abdominal, genital and pelvic areas. It is often used in childbirth and gynaecological surgery. It helps in relaxing the labouring uterus to allow a woman to push more efficiently without suffering too much pain. When you read his quotes later, it should make you laugh because almost everything he said is correct and his purpose was to achieve a happy and tranquil life with total peace and freedom from fear. So for childbirth ask for epidural and in life ask for Epicurus. I like that because it kind of describe me and what is important - happy, tranquil, peace and freedom from fear. Aren't these quite all you need in life? O...

Story Telling

Two friends were on their way to meet me and they spoke about me. When they finally met me, they said they both spoke about the same thing while on their way - that I write faster than they could read. I am sure they meant it as a compliment.  Then a few others said that when I get philosophical, I could save the earth or the human race (this is to tickle me), others were worried if I got too stress writing. Yet many others would tell me or write to encourage me to keep on. They said it is always very interesting and informative and enjoyed reading articles in my blog. Several others said that they should have known me earlier. It is not too late. There are a lot of things we can all do together. We need to share stories. The truth is I enjoy writing and I find it therapeutic and it is a way for me to de-stress. It is also a great way to connect and I make people happy. In fact, I have been encouraging many to write or be my guest writers. Whatever I write, the topics tha...

Madam Kwan

Image
Madam Kwan's is a famous and highly popular restaurant in KL (Kuala Lumpur). Named after its founder, it is known for nonya food, fried chicken, beef rendang, nasi lemak and a host of man others. When Singaporeans do not go to KL then bring KL to Singapore. This is very good as I heard that Singaporeans just love to eat at Madam's when they are in KL. This was what happened when they opened their first restaurant outside of Malaysia at Vivo City, Singapore. This is a very popular restaurant in KL. Some people swear by it. I can't compare anything as I have never been to this place even when I was in KL. Besides the various dishes to go with rice, they have others like noodles, etc. The Rendang is on the dry side. I like mine wetter with more gravy. The sambal kangkong was not as spicy as some of our local version. We did fish head curry too. Lots of tau pok. The chicken was fabulous. I think of all the dishes ordered, this was my favourit...

First King

Image
Have you ever played with fighting spiders as children in the good old days? What about fighting fish? They were very interesting and at that time, we never know that it could be cruel. Most of us would start with one. One fighting spider which a friend gave you. You fought it with others and may be won twice and lost four times and you wanted a better and stronger one so perhaps you bought it from a friend or go search and catch one in the wild. Now you have three spiders and you use your spiders depending on whose spider you are fighting with and their reputation. You are like a strategist planning a badminton game who is to be your first, second and third singles. You will do the same thing for your fighting fish but fighting spiders and fighting fishes are simpler as your best fighter is your champion so you call it your "First King" followed by second king and third king. If you are a rich man, you can have three or more cars and call them whatever you want bu...

EPL Game Week 3

It is getting interesting so early on in the season. Unusual stuffs that is. Liverpool are winning. The best player Gareth Bale has not been playing. He did not even turn up for training. I think this is bad. I always turn up for work no matter what because my fans are waiting bro.  Spain is bankrupt but Real Madrid could splash a 100 million pounds to buy one player. A big upset has already happened. Man City v Hull - City dominated Cardiff to no avail. Since when did Frazier Campbell scored twice? But he was outstanding. So why didn't Roy Hodgson call him up for England duty when he called 19 year old Evertonian Ross Barkley and young Tottenham winger Andros Townsend. Big questions are being asked. Was Cardiff's attack so good or was City's defence non-existent? Can City fare well against a hard team? Or will they be back to conquering ways? Perhaps a backlash for the Tigers? Hull may ask a few questions but it will not be enough. Just hope the referee don't ...

Armenian St. Char Kway Teow - Lost And Found

Image
If you like me had been to the National Library often in our younger days, you will also know about MPH nearby. When I started work, besides dropping in at MPH occasionally, I would also have lunch at the nearby Armenian Street old coffee shop where you have a Char Kway Teow stall and the Ngoh Hiang Prawn Cracker. It really has been such a long time. A friend told me about this recently that he found the Armenian Street Char Kway Teow and gave me an address. One day when I remembered I decided to check out the place but disappointed to find the place closed for renovation. Some months later, I decided to recce if they are open. It was then that I realised that a fire broke out the last time that was why they had to do the renovation.  A few newspapers cuttings adorn the stall front and the price list. Please note when is their off day - Thursday. He does not fry his Kway Teow right in front of you so perhaps you will never know his secret recipe or is it just th...
