EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 29

There are ten matches left. How quickly the season came to this mark. Just two more months and it is all over. It's still Chelsea's title to lose (63 points). City are pegged five points back in second place (58) and Arsenal third (54) and undeserving Man Utd. fourth (53 points) based on performance, Liverpool are fifth (51 points), Tottenham sixth (50 points) and Southampton in seventh (49 points).

Chelsea are steady and in a strong position. City dropped crucial points. Arsenal tend to finish strongly and shall maintain 3rd if not 4th. I do not think Man Utd are going to Europe next season based on their performance so far. Liverpool and Tottenham are more deserving. Even Southampton, we have to respect them.

Meanwhile, the EPL is no longer the best league in the world. Almost all their teams are out of the Champions League. So how can you be the best. However, the EPL is still the most competitive and exciting in the world.

Palace v QPR - Palace have not won at home for a long time - just once actually. QPR have not lost to Palace in their last seven meetings so they are the bogey team and for QPR who last won a match and have since suffered three straight defeats, it seems hopeful. Draw. 1-1.

Arsenal v West Ham - All things point to the Gunners. The Hammers have not beaten Arsenal in 13 meetings. The Gunners should pair up Theo Walcott and Oliver Giroud as they like to score against West Ham. Most of their games ended 3-1 in favour with Arsenal. Although the Hammers have made good improvement their record against Arsenal is anything but dismal - their last five meetings read in Arsenal's favour: 2-1, 3-1, 3-1, 5-1, 3-1. I pick the home team to win. 2-0.

Leicester v Hull - The Foxes have a great record against the Tigers. They suffered only one loss in seven outings. To make things worse, Steve Bruce's side have won only once away in 13 outings. The problem with the home side is that they do not know how to hold on to a lead or to secure a win but they are due a win. 2-1.

Sunderland v Villa - The Black Cats managed just one goal against the Villans in five meetings. That is meagre by any standard. It does not help that Sunderland have not won a match for quite some time while Villa have just won twice in a row. All points to an away win. 0-1.

WBA v Stoke - Baggies' Saido Berahino is in form again but WBA managed to only score 3 times after meeting Stoke 11 times and that is a poor record. While SToke won their last 3 matches, WBA lost their last two. Go for a Stoke win. 0-1.

Burnley v Manchester City - After the Chelsea heroics, Burnley are struggling with their results again. City simply cannot afford another slip. Pelligrini's job is on the line and they need an inspiration to take to the Nou Camp. City will not over stretch themselves unnecessarily. Enough to take 3 points but Burnley can turn dead dogs tired. 0-2.

Chelsea v Southampton - Chelsea are in the driving seat 5 points clear at the top, the biggest beneficiary whenever City slip. Chelsea's record against the Saints have been impeccable. The lovable Saints have dropped points and now slipped down to 7th position and have just recovered from two losses with a slander home win. They have to get Chelsea on an off day and raise their game to get something special out of it. Home win. Diego Costa and Pelle are both due a goal. 2-1.

Everton v Newcastle - Everton have slipped so much that they could be in relegation zone soon but have a superior record against the Magpies: 3W1D1L. Usually both sides scored 3 goals or more whenever they meet. The home side must play desperately to win and they should. 2-1.

Manchester Utd. v Tottenham - Louis van Gaal the invincible is now Louis the vanquished. The hardest part was probably for LVG to swallow his saliva and pride when Danny Welbeck scored. Welbeck's goal to knock Utd out of the F.A. Cup was like karma. After all LVG found Welbeck not good enough and let him go.

Utd have not beaten Tottenham in their last five meetings. In the Red Devils' last two home games, they were beaten by Tottenham. Spurs are back to winning ways. Tottenham have a solid team now and Harry Kane Hurricane has brought his tally for the season to 26! I feel that this will be Tottenham's day in the office and Harry Kane could destroy Utd. Away win. 1-2.

Swansea v Liverpool - Somehow when these two sides meet, the scores go up. Daniel Sturridge is due a goal. The Swans have been inconsistent this season and have a rather poor record against their visitors.A home win at Anfield is not far-fetched. Henderson, Coutinho, Sturridge and Raheem Stirling can do it. 1-2.
