EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 19

This is rush hour. The most frantic soccer league in the world continues with their saga into Christmas.  It is a commando league.  They will play on Boxing Day, rest on Saturday, play again on Sunday and on New Year's Day! Tottenham v Man Utd - Both sides are getting good results. Somehow Utd do not like to play Tottenham or Tottenham always raise their game against the Red Devils. Utd only won once in 5 meetings and that was 2012 at White Hart Lane. The others were 2 draws and 2 wins for Spurs. Their 2 wins were even at Old Trafford. This should unnerve Utd a bit. If they both play an open game which is not unexpected the goals could flow. Draw. 2-2 . Southampton v Chelsea - The Saints were doing fantastically well and then they lost 4 in a row but roared back finally with an emphatic win over Everton. Chelsea fought the good fight against Stoke. Now they visit St. Mary's followed by a London Derby away to Tottenham before hosting Newcastle. This is the time that

I Survived Pattaya - Part 2

Continued from Part One... http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2014/12/i-survived-pattaya-part-1.html We found an interesting restaurant. The German Corner called Piccolo which sounded Italian. Met some old friends from different countries. Many restaurants and shops in Pattaya have Russian names and menu indicating a very strong presence of Russians and probably Russian investments there.  I woke up to this from the balcony the next day. A sunny day. I usually take the omelette at the hotel. Not this time. I have taken to the sunny side of things. I love it that in Thailand they still do these bottled drinks. They bring back fond childhood memories. A garden with a small waterfall at the hotel is great. A garden calms you down. They say Singapore is a Garden City so we should all be calm.  Very soon it was lunch time with a great starter as appetiser.  A rich mushroom soup. And a very good steak for lunch? Aargh

This Christmas

Time Flies, It's Christmas Again. Everyone I have met have commented how amazingly time flew this year. That was what they said last year. They said but it seemed even quicker now. And that my friend is the essence of it all for it is now Christmas! People used to say what are you waiting for? Christmas? In other words, you have to do things in the "now". Do not buy new clothes and keep them for next Christmas, wear then now. Do not wait for the next time to show your spouse, parents, siblings and children love, show them now. I say show them love not spoil them.  Why? Simple as that, tomorrow may never come. That is why we are called the human race, a race against time, a race where nobody wins actually. For we are a fallen race. Christmas excited me when I was a young child because I learnt to make my own and first Christmas cards. I got to send them to friends with personal messages. I got to buy a new toy and meet Santa Claus if we were lucky perhaps that was

EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 18

The EPL before, during and after Christmas is as frantic as our festive celebration. Too much food, too much to drink and hectic. This is the time to make or break a team. So many games packed into a couple of weeks is like drinking all kinds of beer. Then suddenly the whisky came and tequila came late. Chelsea v West Ham - Chelsea rules the roost till now. If they win all their remaining matches they are champions. Chelski have won four straight games but the Hammers are no slouch with their record 5 matches of WWWDW. West Ham have never won at Stamford Bridge. In fact, they have never scored there in their last three matches there. West Ham are in form but to overcome their host, they need a bit of luck and 200% commitment. I think West Ham should score as Chelsea concedes a goal every other game and Stewart Downing could make a cross for Andy Carroll but Chelsea will win it though a draw is possible. 2-1 . https://www.facebook.com/geoffrey.ng.52/posts/10152958096049777?notif

I Survived Pattaya! - Part 1

Since a long time ago, I visited Thailand's many beach resorts and a few cities. Beautiful, interesting places with nice people and food but I have never once set foot on Pattaya, a beach resort where the US's seventh fleet once were.  The reason was simple enough - I have to fly to Bangkok and travel by road to Pattaya. Back in the old days, the stretch of road here was treacherous. My motto has always been to "get there fast and then take it slow". So travelling an extra couple of hours was to me really unnecessary. This is not an irrational fear. It is not even a fear. More like a dread. It is the anticipation that kills. It came soon enough. The dread is worse in the head than actual. The roads today must be better I reasoned with myself.  Yes and no. There were long bumpy stretches and it did not helped that it was a people carrier in the shape of a van. People were chatty at first but by an hour's time, most became silent. Time and space has taken its

Ah, Thierry Henry , as a youngster plodding along as a winger at Juventus until Monsieur Wenger brought him to Arsenal and turned him into a truly wonderful striker extraordinaire. In Arsenal colours, he was so outstanding no one at the time could touch him. At his peak, he has no peers. His goals are special. When he played, Arsenal were always good. He made everything looked so simple. Sheer class! He was unstoppable when he dribbled, he created with his passes, corner and free kicks and he scored abundantly from any angle or distance from open play, free kicks or penalties. There is a sense of expectancy whenever he got the ball. Great footballers are rare. He is one of those. Say no more. See for yourselves. Hail Thierry Henry! Soccer is all about goals. Here are some wicked ones from November: (November Goals): https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=834780883231171&set=vb.266828596693072&type=2&theater (Goals - Game Week 15): https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=834017426640850&set=vb.266828596693072&type=2&theater Burnley v Southampton - Both teams'bubble have burst. Burnley's two wins and two draws ended while Southampton by far the most impressive team lost all three against the big boys. The Saints should be back to winning ways. 0-2 . Chelsea v Hull - Chelsea got beaten for the first time in the League this season at St. James Park. This meant that Chelsea could be beaten. The days ahead will get harder for Chelsea as more teams would believe they could be beaten. By the same token, Chelsea is now relieved that they need not stay unbeaten. The Tigers have just stopped the rot with two draws but a hurt Chelsea at Stamford Bridge should prove too good for Hull.

Rattana Thai Restaurant

I found a quirky place for a good lunch in the heart of town. At Block 1 of Tanjong Pagar Plaza. It was an accidental find because I hardly walk on the second floor there. I was out late one day not knowing what to eat and smack right at the corner at #02-30 is a restaurant, a Thai restaurant called Rattana Thai Restaurant. Then I found something even more interesting and immediately I knew what to have for lunch. No kidding, so I took away a S$2.50 fried rice from a restaurant. They have a variety of different sets to choose from. And their all time favourites for 2 pax for only S$29.90 that comes with Tom Yum soup, Pineapple Fried Rice, Oat Prawns, Lemon Chicken and Kang Kong. They have stuck visits by celebrities and TV artists on their front door. And it is convenient and it could just be my go to place whenever I do not know what to eat. They would even do delivery to nearby offices for your staff lunch. It is simple and probably do not seat a lot of
