EPL Game Week 28

There will be some disruption to scheduled EPL matches due to the Capital Cup and the F.A. Cup. So some teams may not feature in a couple of weeks. Meantime, Man Utd crash-landed horribly in a Greek tragedy when they got shot down 2-0. Rooney has become their talisman, he chased after the ball, create and score goals and is an important and top player but was he worth and obscene 300,000 pounds a week?  The EPL is the most successful, richest, exciting and best branding as a soccer league and best TV soccer in the world - yes. The same cannot be said of the current state of their standard.  Everton v West Ham - Everton have dropped a notch in their results though they are playing okay. LWLWL was a drop from their early season for but what the Hammers have done have been incredible. From losing hopelessly to DWWWW is nothing short of highly impressive. Mind you they won those 4 matches by 2 goal margins. West Ham have never beaten Everton in their last 5 face-to-face meets dra

The world is a puzzling place going by what we see where many people just could not think straight, make that just to think. That is why the world can be a dangerous place where others may harm you, you may harm others and we may harm ourselves.  Wedding Debt I read about a $110K wedding. Have you read about the ones where newly wedded couples were already steep in the red, not in the tradition but red in their accounts before they really got started by being carried away with their impressive ceremony being that they are the most important couple for the day? Of course, it is a special day and it deserved to have a bit of grandeur but why would you need a $10k photo shoot in an exotic destination to start with? Will you be staring at it everyday or will it be collecting dust in a store room in the years to come? $2,000 per table at a grand hotel expecting your guests to chip in? Should it not just be invitation to people who are closely related and friends who are warm witho

Gurame

Gurame is acutally a fish. Its scientific name is Osphronemus Gouramy. I know some of you eat anything then you are called Eatus Anythingus. Gurame is actually to some a "longkang" fish or a pond or freshwater fish. Some claimed that its taste is like that of a Barramundi. It is probably the same family type of fish that some of you may have reared in your aquarium as "Gourami". In English I suspect it is actually the Giant Gurami that some folks reared in tanks or ponds. This Gurame fish is very popular in Indonesia and today they are many fish farms breeding this type of fish. Most good Indonesian restaurants should serve this dish. They would deep-fried the fish and make it in a standing position with the flesh carved out and you use a mild spicy, sour, sweet and simply belacan to dip with. I have passed by this "Gurame" Indonesian Restaurant quite frequently but have never set foot in it. So I decided to ask a few friends over for lunch. We were

Horses are strong, fast and majestic animals. Those that have great endurance and do all the fetch and carry are work horses. Those that are really fast becomes race horses. Horses were the most natural form of transportation in the early days. That's why your car's engine power are referred to as horsepower. How many horses do yo have under the bonnet?  Then there are the wild horses. Those who could tame and ride a horse became hunters while those who can't stayed back to gather branches for fire. Some are stallions. Stallions are uncastrated male horses kept for breeding. Some great horses are thoroughbred. Thoroughbreds are pure-bred or a pedigree animal. Then there is the mustang which is a small breed of wild horse found in the North American plains that were descended from Arabian horses brought by Spanish explorers. Horses live in herds led by a stallion and a lead mare.  There are many famous brands or even soccer clubs that use horses on their logos. Ralph La

EPL Game Week 27

MSL I was outside but managed to catch a glimpse of the away ATM v Lions XII match. I saw how they came back to beat Selangor after being 1-0 down and that after being 2-0 down to Johor they stormed back to draw 2-2. V. Sundramoorthy is a Mourinho and Fandi Ahmed style is more like Pelligrini or Wenger. I though 1-1 was about the final and left for home only knowing that Lions XII won 2-1 the day after. That spoke volume of thier never say die attitude. Kudos! Fandi has been able to build "semangat" into his team and they have been bold with the way they took their game to their opponents. Lions XII need to work on 3 areas and they can be champions again. (i) They conceded easy goals, work on your concentration. (ii) They lost the ball too easily in midfield or the final third. They have always created chances but, (iii) They have been guilty of poor finishing. I think their lastest result broke the jinx and better things are bound to happen. Good luck!  Champions L

Swa Garden

When I was a child right up till being a youth, I must have attended numerous wedding dinners of relatives and friends or friend's siblings. Wedding dinners were mostly held at restaurants. Everybody during those days knew Sin Leong or Red Star restaurants. They were traditional.  Due to so called modernisation many places have changed. New and modern are not always better not even good. If you listened to the radio everyday, you can't remember a single song. As we get older, my fear is that even if we do not have dementia, we may not remember much as almost everything or places we knew from our childhood days were removed, changed or gone forever.  So I was happy to come for dinner at the Swa Garden Restaurant at 540-543 MacPherson Road. The signboard, gates that you see are all simple and traditional. Warning! You either come very early or be prepared to look all over for a car park. There is a nearby public car park at the HDB flats nearby and road side parking. O
