Kazumi Japanese Restaurant

Orchard Road is a glittering place. I have always wondered if there were so many people walking all over Orchard Road during the day then who really is working? And that is before we counted the people playing golf and those shopping elsewhere, others on vacation leave or on medical leave. The area around Scotts is just one of the those where the landscape has changed through the passage of time. Metro was gone. Scotts Picnic no more.

Anyway, in Singapore, you do not go to a place for a few months and they could be gone. That's how frequently we have been pounding away. I found big changes at Far East, trendy clothes for young people. Oh yes, a small Christmas tree reminding me of the time of year. Festive seasons are here again. That was fast. A year older for everyone but none the wiser for the world.

Pacific Plaza was where the old Holiday Inn stood. Are you familiar with Tropicana and the Tree Tops Bar? The Gypsies?

The makeover at Scotts  has been completed. This is beautiful, don't you think?

The Ion is just ahead. Nice walkway too.

More designer shops ahead!

This is Scotts Square. It smelt so new inside.

There are some eateries there and I was here for the new Japanese Restuarant - Kazumi which means "Beautiful Harmony", at least this is what I know.

Sleek in black and modern looking too. Zen-styled.

We started with sake.

This fugu is like our bak kua. Shiok! When I first had puffer fish as in fugu as sashimi in two different styles, I waited for everyone to eat and waited for a few seconds. When nobody died, I had my fair share later. This is much better.

Baby Sardines are delicious.

There is nothing like sashimi. Yummy!

The presentation was good. Don't you want some just by looking? Very fresh, succulent and juicy! Oishi!!

Was that uni oozing out? Uni is from sea urchins. They are like roes of the sea urchins and used in sushi or as sashimi. Actually they are the organs that produces roe. They are expensive as it takes a certain process to extract them and are reported to have healthful properties like being rich in protein, vitamin A,C and E, fibre, calcium as well as iodine. It helps to keep you warm, promotes blood circulation and energise the body. It is like custard that melt in the mouth so it has to be shipped or rather air-flown fresh rather than frozen.

It's like a computer with a sticker that says: "Intel Inside!" This one will say: "Uni Inside!'

Fish is good. All kinds of fish especially the oily ones for the natural Omega-3. Saba grilled perfectly awaits you here.

Unagi is said to have anti-heat properties. It cools and balances your body.

Only Japanese cuisine makes freshwater eels taste so good!

All the fish here is very fresh and when grilled provides great and tasty nourishment including this pretty fish head. I think fish is a happy-go-lucky species for they have wonderful and tasty cheeks!

The pork is very tender and it oozed cheese from inside. Cheese lovers and aficionados will crave for it.

Irresistible Wagyu Beef! Somehow, just plain lean meat without some fats be it beef, pork, lamb or char siew just won't be as good.

This is really good and one has to exercise self-control but resistance is futile.

I love Japanese fried rice or garlic rice as it has a sticky texture.

There is just so much to eat and be spoilt for choices and desserts always gives you closure otherwise how else do you know that you have to stop eating? Green Tea ice-cream or Pomelo Sorbet. There are so much more to offer like Tonkatsu or soba and ramen. Check out this new restaurant at Scotts Square (basement) and delight yourselves. Oishi!!!

After a delicious meal at Kazumi, you feel like hibernating. The Orchard Road Christmas light up has started. Traffic was crawling a bit.

If you are hanging out or shopping around there, it is a good and convenient place to settle down with family and friends for a meal. Oh yes, they have nice sake and beers to go with your food! Oishi!!
This is the place to be - Kazumi!
