Krabi Day 2 - Wish You Were Here

Boat Out At Sea

A whole day out at sea on a boat trip can be an exhilarating experience - you either love it or loathe it. There are boats and there can be boats so what is the difference? Depends. If you are the commando or navy diver type alpha male you can take any kind of boats. I have travelled on small motor sampan at Mersing in the darkness of night to a kelong with no life jackets and I have gone on longtail motor sampan speed-boat at Pulau Tioman where you can get sea water splashed on your faces. The ride is more like a roller-coaster. Some months ago, a group of seasoned fishermen including Singaporeans were out on a boat meant for 20 people but they carried 40 pax. On the fateful stormy day with strong current the boat crashed and quite a few people died and some were injured.

In a situation like that you won't even find enough life jackets if there were. They have long tails at Krabi too where you have to wade into the sea to get on board. With young and old in toll, we opted for a licensed and proper speed-boat. You just pay a little more and you get to board from a pier.

It looks great inside the boat but spoilt travellers be warned! There is no air-con.

Even a boat this size is no match for the strong current.

Our hearts were fluttering when we approached this place. I wasn't sure which Phi Phi is that but surely it's steady "poon pee pee" (whistling).

This greeted us. We quickly moved in to secure the beach by instinct.

Then the boats docked...

Awesome!

Life is a beach.

I dipped down to take this shot at eye level with such an awesome irresistible sight!

Then I waited for the wave to come to try and see if I need a new camera-phone or is it a phone-camera?

These rocks seems to have stalagmite sticking out.

Koh Phi Phi

We held our breath as the boat glided in gingerly amidst very calm waters...

Koh Phi Phi or the Phi Phi Islands is one of the most beautiful natural islands in the world. Of course you can scuba-dive or snorkel around these islands. The difference between snorkelling and snoring is "kell" and nausea. When the boat stopped for half to an hour, some folks may do the "Merlion" also known as puke especially when the current is strong. You see puking is like yawning and it is contagious. Some people may puke when they see others puke. (Ancient Vikings are smart, they know how to choose a sweet spot for a Viking cave).

It is indeed breathtaking. What A Wonderful World! Israel "IZ" Kawakawiwo'ole (What A Wonderful World) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0xoMhCT-7A

At this cluster, there is Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Ley, Maya Bay, Bamboo Island, Viking Cave, Lohsamah Bay, Monkey Bay and except for the obvious Cave and Bays I don't know the difference. It's like you see so much good food you won't bother about the name you just gobble them down. Phi Phi Don is the larger of two islands and boats from Krabi and Phuket dock there daily. It is nearer from Krabi than Phuket to Phi Phi. The Viking Cave is where ancient settlers came and is situated at Phi Phi Ley. Maya Bay was where the movie "The Beach" which starred Leonardo Di Caprio was shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EJ1T0cf-Wk
By now, we are totally smitten by this paradise!

Business here is au naturel. Move aside Lenardo Di Caprio!
This is where I wanna be!!!

Just like how they do it in the movies.

I have two bodyguards to my left and right. What to do? Royal blood.

To look at coral reefs and feed the fish.

This is not marking territory. I always leave a signature like Zorro as the memory is slowly washed away by time and tide.

Hermit crab?

The journey has ended. I introduced myself to the boatman. His name is KiKi. I told him I am KaKa. He was dumbfounded.

Back on land at last, rested and dinner at Del Rocks.

After being active, you get hungry.

Pineapple, coconut or strawberry shake are solid! = to brain freeze!

Anything goes!

Whatever!

Not bad looking ya?

A wonderful day has closed. What a sun soaked day!

To be continued.....
It was good.

We have to go and find out more. Time for more action. Something not done for a long time.
