Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
I have been postponing this trip for far too long because I was ignorant thinking there are still tigers there. Fortunately, I found a car park slot immediately upon arrival. We love to go a wandering along the mountain track and as we go we love to bring my napsack on my back.
Welcome to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve (accompanied by new age music of David Arkenstone and Secret Garden).
I told you there were tigers there! In fact, it was once infested with tigers.
It was an uphill climb. This is an easier route, at least it is paved. There is a time chart that tells you how long it takes to cover each route for a lay person. The senior looking Ranger told me he needs only half the time.

I was halfway up when I felt strongly that they should have upgraded the place and put an escalator there not at HDB estates because these steps are steep. It made me feel my age.
Young and old were there. I have to continue shamelessly.
We reached the summit and breathed the rarefied air.
This was a hill that tigers used to roam. Would be nice if they are still around then I can bring people I don't like here. Ha ha. I only knew that Dinosaurs once roamed Shenton Way.

Aargh!! It was crowded with foreigners. Just kidding. All foreigners are welcomed to Singapore. We just needed something to talk about during elections otherwise it would be boring.
The colour strips on the marker tells you which route you can access. Do not think it is a golf distance marker.
It was a beautiful day.
A very deep quarry but the view was partially blocked.
This is a warning sign not a diving spot.
This route is more treacherous.
Someone once saw Mick Jagger gathering moss and could not believe it. Why? Because a Rolling Stone gathers no moss. I can't get no satisfaction.
It gets trickier when you negotiate this Rocky Path.
It is really steep and tricky for us amateurs. Be careful when you bring young children.
I found a young guru meditating.
Maybe we can live here. Sunlight, moonlight and starlight will guide us. The guru looking for new inspirations and insights.
A stream with very clear and clean water but you are not sure if anyone was peeing up there.
A cave. Why the gate? To protect you?
Sometimes in life you can get very tired and famished and then you see this uphill climb. Just leave me behind on this planet, go on to your spaceship.
Awesome!
Wet and muddy too.
Is this a bee hive or a tumour on the tree?
Wow! Snaking like an Anaconda.
My son suggested an interesting thing to do - to say good morning to everyone we meet across where we trekked. It was an experiment to see how people respond and make all happy. We came across ten different groups and all but one, a young couple did not respond by saying good morning back to us. May be they were panting and have no more breath. It was a success.
The people were going to the monkeys or macaques but the monkeys were out in force coming to greet the people at the car park. Some were on top of cars.
We got our fill of fresh oxygen and a really good but different kind of work out.
Nature - do not ask for anything, you already have everything.
