EPL Week 3 - Highlights
Gareth Bales
When I first saw a very young Gareth Bales I thought this boy will make it big someday. Injuries and indifferent form saw him missing out but towards the second half of last season, Bales was one of the EPL's best players which explained Spurs from too! He started the season where he left off, maybe he forgot to take a break as he pounded money-rich Manchester City in the opening game as if everyone else was anonymous and there was only Bales as all action centred around him. His first goal against Stoke over the weekend was off a lucky rebound but the second was good to win any match. Watch it. Sorry, he's not English but Welsh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxoJZIXgJK0&feature=search
Paul Scholes
Oldie but Goodie. You see old man Scholes doing the oldies proud when his scorcher almost tore the net even though Manchester United showed once again they may not be going to win the title as Fulham looked the better side. What a goal to commemorate 150th goal!
Theo Walcott
The disappointment of not going to the World Cup has changed him. Still only 21, Walcott showed what he is truly capable of doing like when he hit a hattrick against Croatia for England. When Walcott gets past you, you won't catch him. This time he combined his speed with great crosses, timed his run very well and was clinical with his finishing. That is how you should do it boy and you can take on the world!! One of his goal reminds us of Gerd Muller - a turning shot. If he keeps it up, this boy has a more than bright future.
Joey Barton
Joey Barton is the guy who can start a fight in an empty room but when he wish to play some soccer, he's good:
Andy Carroll
Andy Carroll was a bit par player at Newcastle when they got relegated making occasional appearances normally as a substitute. When given the opportunity last season albeit a division lower he showed what he can do. He also starred for England at Under-21 level. Wearing no. 9 for Newcastle is a heavy burden if you look back at their rich history of Jackie Milburn, Malcolm McDonald and Alan Shearer. He troubled Manchester United in their opener and gave hell to Villa scoring a well-earned hattrick. This burly man reminds me of Mark Hateley.
I didn't include Joe Hart who had a great opener versus Spurs. Micah Richards is looking solid again for Manchester City and could help England's cause with Gary Neville fading away. So who says the English do not have players or young talents? Let me be the talent scout. One of Manchester City's goal against Liverpool was all English starting with Joe Hart playing so well to Micah Richards then James Milner, Adam Johnson and Gareth Barry to score.
