EPL 2014/15 Game Week 36

Three more weeks! Somehow many guys will catch up on their weekend sleep again. Some may suddenly realise they are married and have a wife. Others have nothing to look forward to. Meanwhile, everyone are concerned about exorbitant TV prices. When will the limit be breached? Meantime, enjoy the last three matches from this weekend. Cheers! (Top Ten Goals!) https://www.facebook.com/SoccerHighlightsToday/videos/917750401600885/?pnref=story Everton v Sunderland - After some very encouraging displays and that thumping all out 3-0 win over Man Utd., how could they fall by losing at Villa. At 11th place, there is nothing to fight for except pride. Sunderland picked up four points in their last two matches an away draw at Stoke and home win over Southampton which were two unlikely results. They are on 33 points after 34 matches and a win here will see them leapfrog over the next four teams above them. Its life and death now. Historical head to head both sides are level after f...

Yangon 2015 - Part Two

Image
Continued From Part One... The Schwedagon Pagoda, a most significant and prominent landmark in Yangon dominating the skyline as it is almost 100m in height. It is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar as it is said to contain relics of four previous Buddhas. Legend has it that it was constructed 2,600 years ago and is the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world. It is covered by tonnes of gold plates and its crown is tipped with more than 5,000 diamonds, more than 2,000 rubies and right at the very top there is a 76 carat diamond. Most Myanmarese people are Theravada buddhists. There isn't enough time, so may be next time. We came to a beautiful Italian restaurant. We were supposed to do French but it was fully booked. There is plenty to choose from. I wanted the smallest meal. I like appetisers. Never wrong with a good soup. The only time I have bacon is when I travel and during hotel breakfast and in this case the tiny bits in the soup. I d...

Phnom Penh 2015 - Part Three

Image
The last time I was here, while waiting for a guest at the hotel lobby, a stranger with a turban came up to me. Smiling, he said: "Sir, you are a very lucky man". I went (quietly in my thoughts), oh no not again! I have met many of them in Singapore while walking on the streets, in Hong Kong, Thailand, etc. They are obviously fortune tellers. Well, I think they are more fortune makers. To make a fortune out of unsuspecting people than tell your future or fortune. Not so this time, as we are headed out early in the morning going past the usual city place seeing a slightly different aspects of Cambodian life. Ports are very important places. Transportation of goods take place in these places all over the world. It was low tide. Unbeknownst to many, ports, ships and logistics are operating run the clock 24/7 ti deliver the lifeline to all your needs, the world's needs. This is probably the world's best and my favourite carrier! Was told t...

EPL 2045/15 Game Week 35

Chelsea will take the title after hosting Crystal Palace this weekend. They deserve it. You can call them boring but they were very effective, consistent, clinical and some times very slick. No other clubs could touch them or catch them this season.  Leicester v Newcastle - The Foxes are in the form of their lives. It was the first time they have won four games in succession in the top flight. They are hosting the team in the worst form of their lives. The only thing that favours the Magpies is history as in nine meetings between both teams, Newcastle won five and lost none. Records and history means nothing. In soccer as in life, you can't depend on past glory and you are as good as you last deal. Home win. 2-0 . Aston Villa - Everton - Villa had a revival and was impressive recently only to have fell to Manchester City last week plus Gabriel Agbonlahor love scoring against Everton. Meanwhile, Everton has hit a purple patch and playing their best soccer this season only ...

Punggol Settlement Run

Image
Run baby run. Occasionally, I'll take a drive to take a run. I like driving through the old Punggol road that leads to Punggol End that is now called Punggol Settlement. The dense foliage of old allowed only intermittent sunlight to pass through but not it is little balding with age. Was happy to get a car park and a tortoise greeted us. It was hot and humid and it makes us want to get into the water. But the tortoises were getting out of it. Is it warmer in there? An outdoor run is always better. Saw a Wan Hai Lines container vessel that was steaming pass. As you run the landscape is changing. The sun, the skyline and ... ...the sea. You can focus on the things nearby. Or let the mind wander further in the distance. Or of fallen trees and fallen dreams. Or peek into a lone man fishing with just a brolly and a rod. I don't know about you but wherever I go, my senses always work overtime. Like feeler...
