Modesto's

Have you ever been to a mega mall and later could not find where you car was parked? Thanks to camera in a phone, just snap a photo. I used to be part of the Kallang Roar at the National Stadium and saw people who could not remember where they parked their car and have to wait for all others to leave before they could see theirs. The same goes with mega-malls and their car parks. Go back the same way you came through whichever door, entrance , exit, elevator or escalator.

Never go through the pain of walking an entire car park sometimes floor by floor just to find your car. You may walk halfway and meet a cow. That is when the cows came home.

We were here to check out fine Italian food. Two "ang moh" food that impresses me most are French and Italian but nobody cooks like the mad Chinese. We came to Modesto's.

Modesto's specialised in wood-fired pizza and home-made pasta. The menu is quite sizable and there will be something for everyone here.

We were there for lunch, otherwise, alfresco in the evening can be very lovely especially on a breezy night.

I first got interested in Italy because of soccer and the World Cup. The country on the map resembles a boot kicking a ball and Modesto's have many outlets all over the country as you can see.

They serve hearty and traditional Italian comfort food and have a good selection of pasta, sauces and ingredients such as Carbonara and Linguine. Of course there is the favourite Tiramisu.

Squids if you have no fear of cholesterol.

Italians use olive oil so generously. Healthy. When I was a little boy, mum used to apply some olive oil on my hair. Whatever little that is left could have been preserved by the olive oil.

They love coffee too.

And of course great cheese.

They also make good use of mushrooms in several ways. Real quality mushroom soup surely.

Chunks of mushroom allows you to chomp at if for enhanced flavour.

All the pizzas are great so take your own pick.

Even all the side dishes came out good.

If you like mushroom, the Portobello pizza with portobello mushrooms, tomatoes and parmesan cheese is simply delicious.

The quality of the food is undeniable.

Italians make great bread too and good use of tomatoes.

It is so good you can eat this all day.

The pasta and pizza here are certainly top grade. This one looks like a Manicotti. The Italians have so many types of pasta and they are also like Chinese noodles  - Fettuccine (mee pok), Linguine (mee kia), Stringozzi (pan mian), Macaroni, Mastaciolla (mee tai mak), etc.

Then there is also Lasagna. It looks like tahu goreng.

Finally, the irresistible Pana Cotta. It is a delicious Italian dessert made by egg white, thick cream and honey. After blending it is then baked in an oven. Yummy!

Vivo City is always packed with people especially during weekends. A great mega mall. It was a lovely day with great food and fine company at Modesto's but I didn't pay the bill. With such fine food, I reckon the bill won't be that modesto. Thank you sis!
